News & Announcements
EBBN Has a New Look!
You can see that the format of this week's EBBN is a bit different.
We are trying something new for the new year!
Closings and Delays Guidelines

We receive questions every year about the decision to close school and how that decision is made. We believe that our students are better served - both academically and socially - by being in school. Having stated that, our top priority remains the safety of our students and staff.

Please understand that we make the decision for a delay or closing based on a careful analysis of relevant factors such as the weather forecast/predictions (snow, ice, temperature & wind chill), student safety, transportation, student drivers, working parents, and road conditions.

Although we take this decision very seriously, we know that often our decision may not accommodate everyone. Please understand that the decision is never made lightly and that we will always make decisions in the best interest of our students.

We hope this explanation allows you to feel more comfortable and better understand the process our district staff uses to make the best possible decision.

We are thankful for a supportive Kings community. Together we will continue to be  #KingsStrong .

KJH PTO member, Janelle Groff said, "We are so thankful for all the amazing bakers in our community along with Panera who supplied the hot chocolate."
A Little Holiday Reading Fun

Before the Winter Break, Kings Superintendent, Tim Ackermann visited Mary Reece's Kindergarten Class at South Lebanon Elementary. He was a good sport and wore a reindeer hat with the rest of the class!
KJH Community Service

The Kings Junior High School Grade 7 Red team participated in a community service project before the Winter Break called "The Magic Yarn Project." The Magic Yarn Project creates yarn wigs for children battling cancer.

Students learned about the organization and then were involved with measuring and cutting yarn, so that other volunteers could make the wigs.

Mrs. Shelly Allen led the service project and encouraged students to become involved in volunteering further with the organization.  Learn more about The Magic Yarn Project .

CIS 5th Grade Learn About Sound

As a great ending to their Sound Energy Unit in 5th grade, Columbia Intermediate's Team Positive welcomed guest speaker, Tim Nejman. Mr. Nejman is an audiologist for Children's Hospital. He talked about how the ear hears sound and how audiologists test for hearing problems in children and adults.

He also talked about being safe with loud noises and the damage that can be done by listening to high decibels regularly. CIS 5th grade teacher, Liza Briscoe said, "The students loved it when he showed pictures of the inner ear and all kinds of problems and infections people can get in the ear."

Pictured are students listening and experiencing using a hearing aide device.
KME Students Service Project

Kings Mills Elementary 3rd and 4th grade students participated in a Winter Citizenship Project. The students were learning about being a good citizen in their community.

The students collected items for the Kings Food Pantry such as shampoo, deodorant, soap, dish soap, and toilet paper. Additionally, they collected for the Kings Kloset. They collected clothing items including jeans and shoes.

Items collected were delivered before the holidays. Lynn Jenkins, KME 4th grade teacher said, "   We hope they are learning that one way to be a good citizen is to help others.
