We are sharing this information with our our colleagues who were a part of ECCLA. We plan to send out the newsletter on a quarterly basis. New Fast Approaching Opportunities this Month
Girls Who Code and Summer Coding Information Session
When: March 6th, 6:00 - 7:30 pm

Co-hosted by the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce STEM Hub, USC Viterbi STEM-EOP, CA MESA, UCLA MESA, CSULB MESA and CSULA MESA, the evening will include information on this exciting, summer opportunity, as well as other upcoming coding programs for girls of various ages.
Changing Faces: The Case for Diversity and Inclusivity in Higher Ed Leadership at the California Community Colleges
When: March 6th

Where: East Los Angeles College

What: A discussion on how the California Community Colleges can improve the dramatic underrepresentation of Latinx, African Americans, American Indians, Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders within their leadership ranks.

Latinas in Hollywood: HerStories
When: March 8th, 5:30 - 9:00 pm

In celebration of International Women's Day, and under the visionary leadership of Cheryl Quintana Leader and Gabriela Ortega, Latinas In Hollywood: HerStories is presenting for the first-time a 3-hour performance / panel Spectrum Salon through a collage of Latina talent bringing Her Voice, Her Vision, Her Veritas, Her Value & Her Stories within a circle of community professionals from executives, entrepreneurs, political disruptors to actresses, writers, directors, producers, dancers, social media sensations, then moving onward to AV/VR creatrixxes, spoken word enthusiasts and musical soloists, all sharing an evening of their diverse woven life paths through the eyes...hearts...minds...lives of Her grandmothers, Her mothers and Her self!

HER Lead Fellowship

The HERlead Fellowship is a groundbreaking partnership between ANN INC., the parent company of Ann Taylor, LOFT and Lou & Grey, and Vital Voices to empower young women from across the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada to effect global progress, invest in their communities and begin their leadership journeys as the next generation of leaders. Here’s how it works:

A fellowship to provide leadership training to young women, empowering them to become the next generation of global trailblazers.

Girls in the 10th or 11th grade at a high school in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.

Get College Ready
When: March 10th 9am - 2pm

Where: UCLA

The UCLA Office of Strategic Partnerships and Community Engagement is hosting Get College Ready, an event designed to inform 8th-11th graders and their families about the amazing opportunities that UCLA has to offer and the resources that will help them become competitive college applicants.

Hack SC Jr Hackathon
Deadline to apply: March 14th
When: March 31st

Hack SC Junior is a pre-college hackathon at the University of Southern California aimed at increasing the participation of young girls and kids from underrepresented backgrounds in tech.

Sigma Gamma Rho Scholarship
Deadline : March 9, 2018

Seeking graduating seniors with a record of volunteerism in the community in non-school sponsored activities and participation in extracurricular school activities.
Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and plan to attend a 2- or 4-year college or technical school.
Applicants must have the endorsement of their Guidance Counselor on their application attesting they are a qualified fit for this scholarship program.

Summer Coding Leadership Academy
Deadline: March 16th, 2018
The Summer Coding Leadership Academy (SCLA) is an immersive experience where young men of color, currently in grades 8-10, develop as technology leaders by learning computer programming, entrepreneurship, design and public speaking.

Voice 4 The Planet & Water HS Video Contest 2018
Deadline: March 15, 2018

Looking for contestants between the ages of 14 and 19 years of age, and are currently enrolled in a Southern California high schools.

Be The Voice 4 The Planet is a video contest challenging high school students to create a 30 or 60 second PSA on any sustainable subject of their choice .

QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Proram
Deadline: March 21, 2018

The QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program gives outstanding low-income high school juniors an early advantage in college admissions.
College Prep Scholars are uniquely prepared to gain admission and full scholarships to top-tier colleges through QuestBridge. The majority are also selected as Finalists for the National College Match . Being selected as a College Prep Scholar is a notable distinction that celebrates your achievements and gives you an early start in applying to college

Program in Mathematics for Young Scientists (PROMYS)
When: July 1 - August 11, 2018
Application Deadline: March 31, 2018
Where: Boston University

Cost: Financial aid is available

Event Summary: PROMYS is a six-week summer program at Boston University designed to encourage strongly motivated high school students to explore in depth the creative world of mathematics in a supportive community of peers, counselors, research mathematicians, and visiting scientists.

Research Experience for Teachers (RET)

The UCLA Collection of Meteorites is the largest in West Coast, over 2500 samples from 1500 different meteorites .About 100 of these are exhibited in the Meteorite Gallery.
