MEN'S DINNER - LAST CHANCE TO SIGN UP!

Wed., Apr. 30 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. All men are welcome - feel free to bring a friend!  A free-will offering will be taken. Please sign-up in the Lobby or call the church at 412-741-1790.

 

TIME IS RUNNING OUT

Senior Pastor Geoff Chapman will be away this summer on sabbatical and would like to spend time praying for church members and their families while he is gone.  Please pick up a prayer request sheet from the information centers, add a photo of you and your family, and a list of your prayer needs.  Please return prayer requests form to the reception desk by Apr. 25, so that we can collect them into a notebook for Geoff.

 

CONFIRMATION SUNDAY

The Bishop will be visiting St. Stephen's for a special service of Confirmation this Sunday for the 9 and 11:15 am services.  Confirmation is a wonderful event where members of our church family celebrate and affirm their faith in Christ and membership in our church family. If you are a baptized member and would like to be confirmed, please contact Katie Lau or the church at 412-741-1790. 

 

HONOR A SINGLE MOM THIS MOTHER'S DAY

SidebySide invites you to support a single mom by providing a meal for her and her children. Meals can be delivered the week before or after Mother's Day. This annual tradition touches the hearts of our moms in a deep way and provides a sense of care and support from our church community. If you would like to come alongside a mom in this way, register after services this weekend and May 3/4. Contact Julie McCormick for more information.

 

AN EVENING OF WORSHIP AND PRAYER

On Tues., Apr. 29 from 7:30 to 8:30 pm, we're delighted to welcome Gary Horvath for an evening of candlelit worship and prayer in the sanctuary.  During the service we will lay hands on Pastor Geoff as he heads off on his summer sabbatical.  Join us for worship, support for Geoff, and then enjoy some refreshments afterwards.

 

NIGEL MUMFORD

Nigel Mumford will be speaking for the Sat@6 service May 3, and the 9 and 11:15am services on May 4. A healing service will also be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday.

 

FAMILY FISHING DERBY

Held Sat., May 10 from 11 am to 3 pm at the fishing pond in Harrisville, PA. Register at tables in the Lobby today and May 4.  $10 a slot. License not required.  Bait and lunch will be provided.

 

CAR WASH SPONSORING HONDURAS MISSION TRIP

Get your car washed and help support the mission trip to Honduras at the same time May 3, from 9am to 2pm in the church parking lot! Also, a few more workers are needed to help wash. Please contact Mike or Betty Kaszer at 724-799-0436 if you would be willing to help!

 

SOCIAL MEDIA SEMINAR FOR PARENTS

On Sun., May 18, from 6 - 8 pm Student Ministry & Children's Ministry are sponsoring a parenting seminar on social media!  Different speakers will address the issue of how to raise godly teenagers in a world of cell phones and social media.  The event is free and will take place in the Lecture Hall while students are at Sunday night Pulse.

 

CONSTANT COMPASSION - LAST WEEKEND TO DONATE!!

People Helper's Ministry is collecting food for the Charis 24/7 food bank located in Coraopolis.  Cards are located on the information tables with lists of items that are needed.  Please place purchased items in the shopping cart located in the lobby.  For more information or if you have questions contact the church at 412-741-1790.

 

SIDEBYSIDE ACCEPTING DONATIONS

The Boutique is accepting donations of gently used children's clothing through the end of May only. Please do not leave adult clothing, toys, books or equipment. This makes extra work for the staff. Thank you!

 

HAND BAG DONATIONS

Earthly Treasures is collecting gently used hand bags this spring. Hand bags can be dropped off at the Christy House. Please contact Connie Roman with any questions at 724-843-1593.

 

NOAH'S ARK PRESCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN

Noah's Ark Preschool & Kindergarten is an important weekday ministry of our church. Who can you suggest it to? PITTSBURGH FELLOWS GOLF OUTING

Pittsburgh Fellows alumni are organizing a golf outing for Mon., June 16 at the historic Allegheny Country Club. They are looking for golfers and a few more sponsors. YOUNG ADULTS

PITTSBURGH MARATHON/ CINCO DE MAYO PARTY

Sun., May 4 several church members are running to raise support for a new girls' high school in South Sudan. You can learn more about the needs of young Sudanese women and how our project will help at: http://weblink.donorperfect.com/Marathon_Events.

Then, whether you're part of the marathon or not, we'll celebrate our runners with a Cinco de Mayo party on Sunday afternoon at 2pm at the church with lots of food, lawn games, and Cinco de Mayo fun!

THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW

The interactive class on the Gospel of Matthew meets in the Lecture Hall at 10:15 am, with Dave Wollman as the facilitator. All are welcome to attend. 

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

SUMMER CELEBRATION IS FILLING UP FAST!!

If you plan on sending your child to Summer Cel Camp this year, please get your registration in as soon as possible. We only have a few spots left! Register above or pick up a registration form at our Summer Cel table outside of Grace Commons.

  

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

If you are a high school student or an adult who is available to provide additional support and love to a child in the pre-school or elementary program we would love to talk with you!  The Children's Ministry Team is working to find and train volunteers to act as "buddies" for our children with special needs.  For more information contact Anna Conley.

Our final meeting of the year is Thurs., May 15.  Join us as Karen Borland from the Laughlin Center speaks on "Tips for Academic Success:  Preparing for end-of-year teacher conferences, ideas for summer and more."  Dinner and childcare provided at no cost.  We begin at 6:30 pm in the Christy House (boutique opens at 6 pm).  If you are a single mom, please join us.  And if you know a single mom feel free to pass the word.  All are welcome.

MAN VS. WILD

May 2-4, the high school guys will plunge into the wilderness on an epic adventure. This is a great chance to bond with other guys, enjoy the great outdoors, and grow in your walk with Christ. Look for the forms next week and contact Doug Raeder for more details.

On Sun., May 25 from 6-8pm at Erica & Don Hubsch's house, we'll celebrate a great year of Student Ministries with a picnic & pool party! Bring a covered dish to share & the whole family is invited.

MONDAY MORNING MEN'S BIBLE STUDY

Meets in the Henning House from 7-8 am. Our study through the book of Joshua is led by Wicks Stephens.

 

FRIDAY FORUM MEN'S GATHERING

The Friday Forum group meets weekly in the Lecture Hall from 6:30-8 am. Join us as we journey through the New Testament!

 

SATURDAY MORNING MEN'S BIBLE STUDY

Meets Sat. 8 am and is engaged in an in-depth study of the writings of the Apostle John. Contact Larry Rice.

 

MEN'S GOLF OUTING

All men are invited and welcomed to bring a friend on June 14, for the four man scramble tournament at Blackhawk Golf Course. Registration and lunch are at 11:30am. Tee off time is 12:15pm. Prizes will be given. Sign-up at tables in the lobby starting

WOMEN'S MINISTRY

MOMMY MEET-UP - Tomorrow!

We will be meeting tomorrow from 9:15-11am in the Henning House (First Floor).  Our topic will be "Is this Normal?" presented by a behavior specialist, who will be able to answer our questions about child development.  Mommy Meet-Up is a group for moms with young children that meets bi-weekly.  For more information, please contact Amy Kelly.

 

CHRISTY HOUSE

Friendships are nourished and appetites satisfied at the Christy House Tea Room on Fri., 11:30 am-1:30 pm with wonderful homemade soups, salad, bread and cookies. The patio is open for delightful outside dining (weather permitting). The Needles Eye and Earthly Treasures shops are popular for their unique gift items. THURSDAY DINNER GROUP

On May 8, single women of all ages and stages of life are invited to a lovely, home-cooked dinner, warm fellowship and teaching time.  This month we are pleased to welcome Holly Campbell, who will speak on the Miracle of the Church.  We begin at 6pm in the Christy House.  This event is open to all - feel free to invite a neighbor or friend.  And it's no problem to come alone, as we have community table seating where you will be warmly welcomed.  There is a $3 charge for dinner and reservations are requested no later than May 6.  To register call the church office or Julie McCormick

 

MOTHER'S DAY TEA - REGISTRATION OPENS THIS WEEKEND

Join us Sat., May 10 as we celebrate the special bond between women.  Mothers, daughters, aunts, grandmas and friends - all are welcome.  We will have two seatings at 10 and 11am in the beautiful area outside the Sanctuary near the fountain.  When you are not enjoying being served tea and delicious treats, you can take advantage of our photo booth, face painting station, nail salon and craft table.  Look for the registration table after services this weekend and May 3/4.  Or call the church office (indicate your preferred seating time).  Attendance is limited to the first 100 registrants, and no registrations will be accepted after May 7.  For more information contact Julie McCormick

 

TUESDAY BIBLE STUDY

Join us Tuesday mornings from 10:30-11:30 in the Lecture Hall as we study 1 and 2 Peter.  This study is led by Amy VanBuskirk and Clare Johns and is open to all women interested in growing in their knowledge of Scripture.  Each week stands on its own, so you are welcome to come when you are able.  For questions, contact Julie McCormick.
