 NEW ADULT ED CLASS STARTS THIS SUN., OCT. 12 

"SECRETS OF THE VINE" by Bruce Wilkinson

Why does Jesus call himself the "Vine and why are we the "Branches"? What does Jesus mean for us to "bear fruit"? What does Jesus mean about being "pruned"? Come learn what God the "vine dresser" teaches about living a life of abundance in John 15:1-8! Class will be led by Pastor Bill and Kris Lightcap and will meet in the library from 10:15 - 11:05am. Books can be purchased in the Book Corner. 

  


 

MEMORY LOSS SUPPORT GROUP TO HOST KERRY BECK

Kerry Beck of Senior Living Advisors will speak Mon., Oct. 13 at 10:30am in the Henning House. If you or a loved one would like to know more about assisted living or housing for seniors, please come. Call the church with any questions.
 

CENTER FOR HOPE DINNER

Help host a monthly dinner at the Center for Hope in Ambridge on Thurs., Oct. 16. We need donations of fresh vegetables for green salads, fresh fruits such as clementines, apples, oranges, and desserts. If interested, call Pam Herbert at 412-262-2940. Label all food "CFH Dinner" and leave in the church kitchen by 2pm on Oct. 16.

 

HELP KEEP A CHILD WARM THIS WINTER

SidebySide and Children's Ministry are partnering to provide winter coats and boots to the children of single moms in our area. Watch for the Giving Tree and return items by Nov. 2. If you'd like to help sort and distribute donations, contact Julie McCormick.

 

COMMUNION CLASS FOR CHILDREN

On Sun., Nov. 2 at 10:15am in Promise Land, Steve Palmer and Robin Billings will walk the children through what it means to partake of the Lord's Supper. Contact Robin Billings to sign up.

 

HONORING OUR VETERANS
Are you or someone you know a veteran of our armed forces? We're collecting pictures of veterans for a tribute to them in November. Please drop off photos at the church or email them to [email protected].

SidebySide is in need of clean, very gently worn clothing, sizes 9mo-5T. Clothing donations can be dropped off in the coat closet by our sign. Please be aware that we are never able to accept used toys or equipment of any type.

HS AND MS PULSE: SUNDAY, 6-8pm

HS will meet in Sanctuary for first part of Evensong, and MS meets at the Henning House.  Pick-ups for both are at the Henning House.

 

GIRLS' BIBLE STUDIES: TUESDAYS 7-8PM

HS girls meet 1st floor of the Henning House. MS girls meet at the Zimmermans' house.

 

HS DAY AT OHIOPULE: SAT., OCT. 18, 9:30AM-5:30PM

Meet at the church in the morning for a day of outdoor beauty at Ohiopyle State Park!

BIBLE STUDIES FOR MEN

Monday Morning

Come to the the Henning House from 7-8am for this weekly study through the book of 1 Corinthians is led by Wicks Stephens and Chuck Gratner. 

 

Friday Forum

Meets in the Lecture Hall, 6:30-8am. All men are welcome to join any time for this study through the New Testament. Class is led by Bill Henry, Doug Wicker & Vince Burens.

 

Saturday Morning

This study meets at 8am and is engaged in an in-depth study of the writings of the Apostle John. Contact Larry Rice with any questions.

WOMEN'S MINISTRY

CHRISTY HOUSE

Are you longing for a step back in time?  The Victorian-style Civil War-era tea room will be set for lunch 11:30am to 1:30pm. We will be serving your choice of homemade soups, salad, bread and cookies. Come early and shop in the Needles's Eye and Earthly Treasures. RSVP after 9:30am on Fridays to the Christy House, 412-741-5960.

 

TUESDAY BIBLE STUDY

All women are welcome to join us for our study on the Life of David.  We meet at 10:30am in the Lecture Hall.

 

MOMMY MEET-UP - TOMORROW, OCT. 10

Join Mommy Meet-Up tomorrow in the Henning House.  Gail MacDonald will be presenting on "Reading to Your Kids".  Mommy Meet-Up is a group for moms with young children.  Mommy Meet-Up will be hosting a Mom's Night Out Sat., Oct. 25.  This event is open to all St. Stephen's moms.  We will meet at LULA in Sewickley at 7:30pm for an evening out.  Please RSVP to Melissa Fann by Oct. 22.
SIDE BY SIDE - SINGLE MOM'S MINISTRY

SIDEBAR OCT. 16

Come 6:30pm to the Christy House as Barb Johns shares practical tips on establishing parental authority in your home.  Dinner provided and childcare (including a supervised homework room) at no cost. This is a wonderful time of renewal and refreshment for single moms - feel free to pass the word to any single moms you know.

 

MAKE YOUR FALL WREATH - SAT., OCT 25

Join us noon - 2:30pm as Stephanie Barravecchio helps us create the perfect fall decoration.  Lunch and childcare will be provided.  Children will get to decorate their own pumpkins as part of the day. Registration is required for this event and limited to 15 moms.  Contact Julie McCormick to register.

 

BOUTIQUE OPEN

We offer free, high quality clothing for children on Mondays from 6:30-8:00pm and Fridays from 9:30-11:30am.  The boutique is open to all single moms.

If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone.
