MAUNDY THURSDAY - Tonight - 6:30 PM - Grace Commons

Maundy Thursday is when we remember our Lord's Last Supper. Join us for the traditional dinner of Lamb Stew in Grace Commons. Please bring a salad or bread to share. A love offering will be collected for the cost of the Lamb Stew. Following dinner, we will move into the Sanctuary (around 7:15) for a special service of Holy Communion.  Childcare (0-5 years) is available during the service. 

 

GOOD FRIDAY - Tomorrow

Our Good Friday service, held from 12 - 3 pm, will take place during the hours Jesus suffered on the cross. This moving service will feature seven short sermons on Christ's seven last words by our preaching team and guest speakers, a choral presentation, congregational hymns, & prayer. The choir will present "Return to Me" with text by Terry York, music by Taylor Scott Davis and will be accompanied by Tim Heavner on the piano, Janelle Sands on cello and soprano soloist, Amy Stabnau. No childcare available.  Come for part or all of the service.

Sun., Apr., 20 - 7:45, 9 & 11:15 am - Sanctuary

On Easter Sunday please come early to the sanctuary services to hear special music from the bell choir and brass quintet.

Please help make room for our visitors by parking at one of our off-site parking lots:
Car Barn Shops, Library, Laughlin Center or the Green Street Parking lot. 

 

CHRISTY HOUSE

The Christy House is closed in observance of Good Friday but will reopen next week. 

 

HOME COMMUNION

If you or your family members are homebound and would appreciate a visit with Holy Communion before Easter, please call Debby in the Pastoral Care office; 412-741-1790.

 

COMMUNITY EASTER EGG HUNT

 You and your family are invited to our Community Easter Egg Hunt on Sat., Apr.19, from 10 am-12 pm at the church. For questions or to assist in this project, please contact Robin Billings at 412-741-1790.

 

GEOFF WANTS TO PRAY FOR YOU

Senior Pastor Geoff Chapman will be away this summer on sabbatical and would like to spend time praying for church members and their families while he is gone. Please pick up a prayer request sheet from the information centers, add a photo of you and your family, and a list of your prayer needs. Please return prayer request forms to the reception desk by Apr. 25, so that we can collect them into a notebook for Geoff.     

 

CONFIRMATION SUNDAY

The Bishop will be visiting St. Stephen's for a special service of Confirmation Sun., Apr. 27 (9 & 11:15 am services). Confirmation is a wonderful event where members of our church family celebrate and affirm their faith in Christ and membership in our church family. If you are a baptized member and would like to be confirmed at please contact the church office at 412-741-1790 or Katie Lau.

 

MEN'S DINNER

Wed., Apr. 30 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm in Grace Commons. All men are welcome. Feel free to bring a friend!  There is no cost; a free-will offering will be taken. Sign-up in the Lobby or call the church at 412-741-1790.

 

CAR WASH SPONSORING HONDURAS MISSION TRIP

Get your car washed and help support the mission trip to Honduras at the same time Sat., May 3, 9am to 2pm in the church parking lot! Also, a few more workers are needed to help wash. Please contact Mike and Betty Kaszer if you would be willing to help

 

HONOR A SINGLE MOM THIS MOTHER'S DAY

SidebySide invites you to support a single mom by providing a meal for her and her children. Meals can be delivered the week before or after Mother's Day. This annual tradition touches the hearts of our moms in a deep way and provides a sense of care and support from our church community. If you would like to come alongside a mom in this way, register after services on April 26/27 and May 3/4. Contact Julie McCormick for more information.

 

NIGEL MUMFORD

Nigel Mumford will be speaking for the Sat@6 service May 3, and the 9 and 11:15am services on May 4. A healing service will also be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday.

 

FAMILY FISHING DERBY

Held Sat., May 10, 11 am to 3 pm at the Fishing pond in Harrisville, PA. Register at tables in the Lobby April 27 and May 4. $10 a slot. No license needed. Bait and lunch will be provided.

 

CHRISTIAN LIFE AND WITNESS COURSE - Apr., 21 - May 10

This is a great opportunity to find practical help in sharing the hope you have in Jesus with others. Please visit the Information Centers for more details and other ways to get involved with Franklin Graham's Three Rivers Festival of Hope, Aug. 15 -17.

 

BOOK DIALOGUE

Meeting Fri., Apr., 25 from 9:30 - 11:30 am in the Library to discuss Catherine Marshall's, Light in My Darkest Night. Theresa Newell, who helped to edit this book, will lead the discussion.

 

SCRIPTURE UNION USA (E100 CHALLENGE)

Invites all to celebrate with them as they honor Archbishop Robert Duncan at their Annual Dinner, Sun., May 18, at 6 pm. The evening will be held at the LeMont Restaurant. Contact Jan McGinnis at 412-463-8380 for reservations.

 

SMALL FLATBED CART NEEDED

The bell choir is looking for a small flatbed cart to move the bell equipment more easily.    They have 6 cases of bells and chimes that constantly need to be moved. Though we in the bell choir appreciate the exercise, we would appreciate a cart even more! Please contact Kelly Nan at the church if you have a cart to donate. Thank you!

 

CONSTANT COMPASSION

In the month of April the People Helper's Ministry is collecting food for the Charis 24/7 food bank located in Coraopolis. Cards are located on the information tables with lists of items that are needed. Please place purchased items in the shopping cart located in the lobby. SIDEBYSIDE ACCEPTING CLOTHING DONATIONS

The Boutique will be accepting donations of gently used children's clothing through the end of May only. Please do not leave adult clothing, toys, books or equipment. This makes extra work for the staff. Thank you! Please leave donations in church coat closet.

 

NOAH'S ARK PRESCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN

Noah's Ark Preschool & Kindergarten is an important weekday ministry of our church. Who can you suggest it to? Accredited by Association of Christian Schools International, classes for ages 3 - Kindergarten, & excellent Christian early school experience. HIGH SCHOOL EVENT - "FM419" EVANGELISM TRAINING

Tues., Apr. 22, from 7-9 pm. we will drive to Christ Church at Grove Farm to participate in an area-wide evangelism and witness training for teens. This event is part of the Franklin Graham Festival of Hope in Pittsburgh (Aug. 15-17) and will be a high-quality event with great music and teaching. Meet at the church at 6:45 pm and we'll return by 9:15 pm. There is no cost; RSVP to Doug Raeder.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL EVENT - MERGE 4.26.14

This is a one day, (9am - 8pm), JAM-PACKED fantastic excuse to spend with friends enjoying music, food, bounce houses, sports for guys and day spa for girls. $10 covers everything. Depart from church at 8:45 am to Sewickley Hills Community Center. Contact Shaun Starkey with questions.

 

MAN VS. WILD

May 2-4, the high school guys will plunge into the wilderness on an epic adventure. This is a great chance to bond with other guys, enjoy the great outdoors, and grow in your walk with Christ. Look for the forms next week and contact Doug Raeder for more details.

Meets in the Henning House from 7-8 am. Our study through the book of Joshua is led by Wicks Stephens.

 

FRIDAY FORUM MEN'S GATHERING

The Friday Forum group meets weekly in the Lecture Hall from 6:30-8 am. Join us as we journey through the New Testament!

 

SATURDAY MORNING MEN'S BIBLE STUDY

Meets Sat. 8 am and is engaged in an in-depth study of the writings of the Apostle John. Contact Larry Rice.

WOMEN'S MINISTRY

MOTHER'S DAY TEA - REGISTRATION OPENS APR., 26!

Join us Sat., May 10 as we celebrate the special bond between women. Mothers, daughters, aunts, grandmas and friends - all are welcome. We will have two seatings at 10 and 11am in the beautiful area outside the Sanctuary near the fountain. When you are not enjoying being served tea and delicious treats, you can take advantage of our photo booth, face painting station, nail salon and craft table. Look for our registration table after services Apr., 26/27 and May 3/4 to register. Or call the church office (indicate your preferred seating time). Attendance is limited to the first 100 registrants, and no registrations will be accepted after May 7. For more information contact Julie McCormick 

 

MOMMY MEET-UP

We will be meeting Fri., Apr. 25 from 9:15-11am in the Henning House (First Floor).
Our topic will be "Is this Normal?" presented by a behavior specialist, who will be able to answer our questions about child development.  Mommy Meet-Up is a group for moms with young children that meets bi-weekly.  For more information, please contact Amy Kelly.
