The fourth quarter Business Climate Survey of Lee County report is complete and available here . The survey, created by the Horizon Council and Florida Gulf Coast University's Regional Economic Research Institute, measured the expectations of 100 local business executives for the area's workforce and economy. Survey findings included:

  • 76 percent of executives surveyed believe the economy will improve in the next year, while 23 percent believe it will stay the same.

  • 52 percent of executives intend to increase the number of employees at their companies over the next year, and 46 expect to remain the same.

  • 82 percent believe a university with a strong technology focus is an important factor to help the regional economy grow.
