Joe Lilly, Hispanic Discovery Class of 2011 and Puget Sound Navigation Class of 2012, has recently been promoted to
CFO at Oregon Transfer Co. On top of this amazing achievement, Joe has also signed onto EDI's Board of Directors at the start of this year. Congratulations Joe for giving back to EDI, and reaching his goals!
Colleen Fukui-Sketchley, Puget Sound Discovery Class of 2005, will receive the 2015 Odegaard Award at the University of Washington's 45th Annual Celebration, for her leadership and dedication to educational opportunity working as the Diversity Affairs Director at Nordstrom. This is the most prestigious award given by the University of Washington, and in the past, EDI's Executive Director Emeritus, Alan Sugiyama, was also given this same award for his work in the community. Congratulations to Colleen for receiving this recognition in the community!

2015 Puget Sound Discovery Jumpstart
On February 26th, EDI's Puget Sound Leadership Discovery Class of 2015 met at the Mayflower Park Hotel to "jumpstart" their EDI journey. Participants had the opportunity to meet their classmates and learn more about the exciting curriculum. The class was welcomed by EDI's Executive Director Emeritus, Alan Sugiyama, and new Executive Director, Marci Nakano. With special guest appearances by facilitators and EDI Board members, Jumpstart was a complete success!

Earlier this month, the Leadership Navigation program kicked off with a three-day retreat at Cedarbrook Lodge. The Class of 2015 heard from dynamic executive panelists, met their professional coaches, explored their behavior styles, learned about different cultures, and participated in a team-building activity led by EDI alum, John Chen of Geoteaming. As classes begin in April, the 2015 Navigation Class are ready to show what they've learned and take it to the next level!

Last week, EDI kicked off both its
Puget Sound and Portland Discovery Class at the Embassy Suites in Bellevue and Tigard. For two days, the 2015 Class was able to learn and discover their own cultural values through the help of amazing facilitators, JD Hokoyama and Marisa Rivera. They participated in various teambuilding activities including cooking their own dinner with NuCulinary's Naomi Kakiuchi and a scavenger hunt with Geoteaming's John Chen. With a group of engaged and enthusiastic participants, this year might be one of EDI's best classes!
