Clergy Transitions

The Rev. Steven Shortess has been called as the rector of St. John's, Thibodaux, and Trinity Church, Morgan City. He will graduate from the School of Theology at the University of the South in May.

The Rev. Joe Reynolds will conclude his time as interim rector of St. James, Baton Rouge, on June 3.
St. Francis Breaks Ground on a New Sanctuary

When St. Francis was founded in 1952, a plan was made to build a sanctuary on the 5-acre campus. Until then, the church would worship in a building originally designed to be a parish hall. Decades passed away without this plan becoming a reality.

When the Great Flood of 2016 severely damaged all the buildings, the parishioners along with the Rev. Mark Holland, who was serving as the interim priest at the time, began to talk about what it meant to rebuild a church that would serve the needs of the community going into the future. The dream of the new sanctuary came alive once again. On April 22, 2018, they broke ground on this dream.

We look forward to worshiping with the people of St. Francis in their new sanctuary later this year.

Reflections on Evangelism Matters

The Rev. Jay Angerer and the Rev. Christopher Capaldo attended the Evangelism Matters conference held in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, in March. Evangelism Matters is an innovative gathering for those seeking to share, learn, and grow the Church's capacity and passion for evangelism.

They offer a reflection on their experience and lessons they are bringing home to help others tell their sacred story:
