Update by Julie Martin and Chris King
ReConnect this year lived up to its intended name as a refreshing and revitalizing time of reconnecting among youth leaders. Throughout the retreat, attendees were challenged to rethink evangelism and discipleship, how each work on their own, and how they work together. There were 59 youth leaders representing 15 EFC-ER churches at the weekend.

Pastor Pete Fowler (Salem First Friends) began the journey Saturday morning with the challenge, "What does it mean to reach out in this day and age?" Saturday night, Randy Heckert (Malone University Chaplain) shared his thoughts on the subject. Youth Board President Chris King closed the retreat on Sunday morning and encouraged the leaders to take the challenge home.

"It boils down to loving teens where they are and not just forcing our beliefs on them. They are able to see the real person, not just the 'perfect youth pastor' through a relationship where we can be honest about where we have been, where we are, and where Christ is taking us on this journey."

A special thanks to Chris King who organized the weekend, and Orange Friends Church for opening their doors!

A Little Extra.... QUOTE FOR THE WEEK:

"Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw Him they worshiped Him, but some doubted. And Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.' " Mathew 28:16-20 (ESV)
