Any time CCR admits puppies there is always a risk that one or all might have health issues.  BUT, we know that if we do not take that risk - many puppies will not survive.  As you know, when CCR commits to taking in an animal, we will do anything medically that we can to help them.

The last week, however, has been, and continues to be a real challenge.   A pound in Ravenna, KY had been overwhelmed and was going to euthanize many animals, including puppies and highly adoptable dogs for lack of space.  Luckily, a kind volunteer offered to drive his van through the day and night to bring animals to safety.  CCR admitted a dog, a single pup and a mama and her five puppies to save their lives.   Within hours of their arrival, though, we realized that Sunflower was very sick.  A quick parvovirus test confirmed our worst fears.  She was immediately hospitalized for emergency care and we were on high alert.  

Many, many times if one puppy is sick, other puppies from the same shelter also succumb to the disease.   This time, was no exception to the rule.  Within days, three more puppies (Cally, Athena and Cleo) tested positive for parvovirus and were rushed to the hospital.   In the mean time, another pup arrived from Oklahoma and we realized that he, too, was not feeling well.  An immediate trip to the vet, that little Herbie had pneumonia.   All pups fought bravely for their lives - along with a handful of dedicated vets, and four have already beat the odds - but poor little Athena is still in the hospital fighting!   Please help CCR meet the demands of our current crisis and prepare for the needs of future injured and ill animals that so desperately need our help!  We  know that all these animals deserve happy and healthy futures - let's make a commitment together to continue saving their lives with quick and dedicated medical intervention!   PLEASE, please give a $10 or More to SAVE A LIFE!
