Presbytery news

Christmas 17

Dear Friends,

This week is always one both of beauty and busyness, anticipation and (probably, a bit of) anxiety, best laid plans and unexpected turmoil.

Whatever Christmas week is for you this year, may it also be a season of promise and hope; joy and good news.

"Do not be afraid; for see - I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior who is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a child wrapped in bands of cloths and lying in a manger."

Like those trembling shepherds, may our hearts too be filled with wonder and hope for all that God has done and is yet to do.

With thanks for being a part of the Presbytery of the Twin Cities Area family. Your friendship, prayers, and support for our common work are a blessing beyond measure. Merry Christmas!

Jeff Japinga, Barbara Lutter, Risa Anderson,
Steve Robertson, Heidi Bolt

Ruling Elder Resource Regarding ruling elders:
The gift of the present
The Rev. Dr. Diana Nishita Cheifetz, a spiritual director serving lay leaders and clergy in the San Francisco Bay area, the United States, and internationally, writes, " Every Christmas day of my growing-up years was spent at my grandparents' house in San Juan Bautista, California. Imagine 30 or so relatives laughing, eating, joking and hugging in a little two-bedroom, wood-frame home. The kids rambled from the living room, with its stately, boxy television, to the dining area, to the always-busy kitchen, presided over by my grandmother, out the enclosed back porch, across the driveway, through the barn, and into the back field where my grandfather was keeping watch over the smoked pork, with my dad and uncles keeping him company." The complete column can be found at "Gift of the Present."
