EPP, now teaching in three California counties and to approximately 250 students weekly, has drawn a few radical, heartfelt conclusions about what's needed to reduce recidivism and bring forth paradigm-shifting societal change.

A message from our Founder Susan Olesek below about what this means for EPP; as we step boldly into 2017 and as she shared her own bold vision on a TEDx stage this past fall:

Dearest EPP Peeps!

In October of 2016, the cutting-edge organizers for TEDx Washington Square invited me to speak on behalf of Enneagram Prison Project (EPP). The theme? "Practicing Change." The extraordinary platform that is TEDx seriously motivated those of us here at EPP to roll up our collective sleeves and distill the essence of our work in the 10 precious minutes given to share EPP's vision with the world.

Without reservation, we put our heads together and set out to convey what "it" is about Enneagram Prison Project that's catalyzing incarcerated men and women "on the inside" to go about transforming their lives. We honed in on what our Executive Director Rick Olesek calls "the secret sauce," because we know that it is "this" essential, organic ingredient that is at the heart of all change. And what is that, you ask? It is simple - though radical and paradigm shifting - it's actually a shift in consciousness, a shift in  caring, as you will hear...

TEDx just released the talk and I am so pleased to finally get to share with you how the mission of EPP effortlessly aligned with the charter of TEDx Washington Square in demonstrating the change taking place on both personal and societal levels. The very real shift we are witnessing in people, caring about their own humanity, is compelling hundreds of hopeful inmates to add their names to growing waitlists in order to gain a seat in an EPP program.

This same spirit is motivating criminal justice judges to reduce EPP participants' sentences and state employees to join our reentry class, for the formerly incarcerated, now offered in the community. The only direction for an EPP TEDx talk that made sense was to highlight that the people we least expect to change - the incarcerated - are waking up to themselves, daring the rest of us to notice our own reflection in them.

Join us as we follow these change agents' lead in exploring new frontiers of self and society as we head into a very hopeful 2017.

With love and such gratitude to all of you for sharing in this vision,
