Dear Community Member,

East Side's Empowering Vital Aging (EVA) project is committed to helping connect older adults to services and resources that expand their choices for remaining independent in their own homes and communities. One way we do that is our annual Health & Wellness ExpoAttendees have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of resources and services that support our commitment to make Minneapolis and surrounding areas  " Your Community for a Lifetime."

Plan to join us f or e ntertainment, door prizes and FUN as well as access to health and wellness screenings and flu shots. We expect more than 40 vendors to participate.  We'll also be "spotlighting" new technologies that  enhance and support older adults and their caregivers to age in the communities they love.

Invite a friend to join you -- we hope to see you in September! (Details for the event below.)

Volunteer Opportunities
Host a  Neighborhood Social Circle and increase social connections for older adults!
Older people are more likely to be at risk of becoming socially isolated, leading to poor health outcomes. Neighborhood Social Circles provide an opportunity for neighbors to meet, share stories, and get to know each other.

The Neighborhood Social Circles model:
  • A series of weekly gatherings held in a community room at an apartment building, house of worship, or public space
  • A small group of 4 to 7 community volunteers and their invited guests: 8-14 people total, plus the facilitator
  • Community volunteers invite an older person they have identified who would like the social contact
  • Each week, the facilitator starts the conversation, allowing       attendees to feel safe and comfortable sharing something about their lives that is meaningful to them
If you would like to host, participate, or just learn more about Social Circles, contact Linnea at [email protected] or 612-787-4045.
