Farm Credit is providing $5,000 in funding to match SNAP purchases made at Urbana's Market at the Square up to $20 per person each Market day. The program enhances the value to market customers, farmers who sell their agriculture products, and the local foods community.

FCI Celebrates Scholars at Recognition Program
Scholarship Luncheon Held June 1

More than 100 visitors - composed of 22 of the 24 scholars and their family members and guests - attended a scholarship recognition luncheon at the cooperative's central office in Mahomet. Since the program's start in 2004, $344,500 of scholarships have been awarded to nearly 300 students.

Price Check
Land Sales in the Last 90 Days


The Price Check listing includes sales results of 29 different parcels of farmland reported since April 1. These sales are from public auctions which concluded with successful bids; they represented 2,157 total acres in 11 different counties selling for a grand total of $14.8 million with an average price of $6,872 per acre. The sales ranged from a high of $14,609 per acre for 21 acres in Madison County to a low of $2,875 per acre for 80 acres in Wayne County.

Illinois State FFA Convention     
Newsroom Offers Education to FFA Members

The two Illinois Farm Credit Associations teamed up to continue their sponsorship of the Farm Credit Newsroom at the 89th Illinois State FFA Convention last month. FFA members volunteered to organize cut lines, capture and edit photographs of award recipients, and finalize press releases. Collectively, volunteers published 141 news releases and captured 316 digital photos including the announcement of the newly elected State Officer Team.

The Ag-Tastic Adventure was coordinated by the Madison County Extension office to teach kindergarten through fifth grade Edwardsville students about different areas of agriculture including crops, swine, poultry, dairy, beef, and gardening through interactive projects. The program ended with a trip to the St. Louis Science Center's GROW exhibit .
