G3-5 Sing in Worship This Weekend
The students in third, fourth, and fifth grades will be singing at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Sat., Apr. 7 at the 5:30 PM service! Students should arrive no later than 5:15 in the music room. They have been hard at work in choir class, and they are ready to share the anthem and beautify the worship service. Although it is not a required part of students’ music grades, this is a great opportunity for students to share their hard work with the broader Immanuel community and to praise God in the process. Contact Mrs. Rudy at  with any questions.
Plunge Into Fitness
Participating students who complete the Plunge Into Fitness Program receive a free June admission ticket from Raging Waves in Yorkville, Illinois OR $10 off an admission ticket valid Jul. 1-Sep. 3. Download student logs  and  flyers  and get moving! Completed forms are due Apr. 9.

Immanuel Presents Disney's The Lion King, Jr.!
By ILS students Jack Carroll, Cam Gruel, and Jack McCormick with Mrs. St.Vincent

FRI., APR. 20, 6:30 PM AND SUN., APR. 22, 2 PM
Pounce into the Pridelands with the actors of the Immanuel Lutheran School performance of Disney’s The Lion King, Jr. at ILCS. Tickets are $2 and are available for purchase at the school office and online here .
This is the second annual musical production at ILS. Last year the students presented Joseph and the Technolor® Dreamcoat . It included cast members from Kindergarten through Grade 8. This year, a second show has been added instead of just one!

PTL Read-A-Thon
Immanuel's Parent-Teacher League is holding a Read-A-Thon fundraiser beginning Mon., Apr. 9. This is a program that brings students together with family and friends to encourage reading and to build literacy skills. The main focus of the Read-A-Thon is for everyone to know Immanuel is committed to improving reading skills. The Read-a-thon promises to be a fun, exciting journey for all participants as they begin a personal reading adventure that challenges each reader to complete 10 reading sessions over the two week time period of the event. Complete details are available here.
Preschool Pentathlon
Immanuel's preschool students will be participating in a Preschool Pentathlon on May 2 and 3 during class periods. The students will compete in a variety of preschool-appropriate pentathlon activities such as relay races, obstacle courses, and a scavenger hunt. Questions or would like to help? Contact Danielle Carstens, Martha Voelkner, or Sara Myatt--fellow preschool moms--or contact the school office.
Retirement Announced
It is with warm wishes and prayers for God's blessings upon Barb Iteen that we announce her upcoming retirement at the end of the current school year.

Barb Iteen’s position at ILS changed and grew as the school changed and grew. She initially taught combined classroom grades (3/4 and 4/5) and eventually became Immanuel’s first middle school teacher. Barb taught students in the mobile units that occupied the school parking lot prior to the 2005 Family Life Center and middle school classroom addition. Barb has taught eighth grade and acted as team leader for the middle school program for many years. She has served as Secretary of the congregation, diligently taking minutes at all Church Council meetings and Voters Assemblies. She and husband Gary are also long-time members of the Christus Choir. Barb shares, “I have been blessed to serve Immanuel Lutheran Church and School these past years. What a wonderful extended church family we have here!”

Mrs. Iteen will be dearly missed, yet Immanuel is happy for her as she looks forward to enjoying a new time in her life. A Call Committee is being formed as plans develop for staffing needs, and more information will be forthcoming as to how Immanuel will celebrate her many years of service in ministry.
Called Teaching Position Available Fall 2018
Immanuel is accepting resumes and LEIF forms for a full-time Called teacher beginning August 2018. Minimum requirements are a BA in Education and state certification, but applicants who meet the guidelines for a Call will receive priority consideration. A Call Committee is being formed and more complete information will be shared as it becomes available. Please send documents at your earliest convenience to:

Immanuel School Committee Seeks Input
In the next couple of weeks Immanuel School Committee members will be reaching out to all school parents of students in preschool through eighth grade. They are looking for thoughts about what makes Immanuel a great school, as well as feedback on areas where the school can improve. They will contact parents by phone or in person, and all families are encouraged to participate. This feedback will be extremely valuable as future goals for ILS are discussed.
