"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity."

Non-Public School Scholarships
Important Information for Parents Regarding the State of Illinois Invest In Kids Act of 2017

The State of Illinois created a new way to fund scholarships for children who choose to attend recognized non-public schools through the Invest in Kids Act. Scholarships offered through this program have the potential to cover up to 100 percent of tuition and eligible charges for the 2018-2019 school year.

Students in Grade K-12 have the opportunity to receive tax credit scholarships for the 2018-2019 school year. Families who meet the income guidelines below are directed to visit the website empowerillinois.org to determine what is necessary to begin the process of applying for these scholarships. The scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis so it is very important to apply early.

Families who anticipate applying for Need-Based Tuition Assistance and their family meets the income guidelines below, must apply for Invest in Kids Scholarships before applying for Immanuel's Need-Based Tuition Assistance program.
Thank You!

Advent Worship Today!
Wednesdays
at 3:45 PM and 7:15 PM
Dinner between services at 4:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall
Anyone who has been around a toddler knows that one of the key questions to learning and growing is, “Why?”

This Advent Immanuel takes a slightly unusual path to the manger, beginning with the question, “Why did Isaiah go when God called him?” This question is then followed down the rabbit hole of whys.

Why did Nehemiah go to Jerusalem? Why was his heart broken? What did he hope to accomplish? Why is this connected to Christmas? Why did Mary say yes to Gabriel? Why does her relationship with Joseph actually grow stronger? Why does God send her to Elizabeth? Why did Mary go?

This Advent Immanuel returns to that child-like faith Jesus commends and begins asking why again. Come on this journey of discovery and witness faith and trust in God grow in preparation for the coming of the New Born King.

Christmas Giving
San Pablo, Aurora

Help support Immanuel's sister congregation San Pablo, Aurora and their efforts to reach out to their community. Take a tag from the Giving Tree in the church lobby or the school office for store gift cards (due Dec. 20) or for Reverse Advent Calendars for the San Pablo Food Bank (due Dec. 24). Instead of taking something out of a commercial Advent calendar, set up a basket at home and give the item listed for each day. Bring items on the dates indicated for transport to San Pablo.
Aurora Pregnancy Information Center (PIC)

Each year at Christmastime, Immanuel students collect layette items and donate their chapel offerings to the Aurora Pregnancy Information Center as another way of honoring the birth of Baby Jesus in such lowly estate. Preschool families are asked to bring layette items to the school office or their classroom before Dec. 22. These items will be delivered to the Aurora PIC by ILCS staff members. Chapel offerings from K-8 students are being designated to this local charity as well for the month of December.

Security at ILCS

There have been questions regarding vandalism at ILCS. The administrative staff is working with authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and will be taking whatever measures are deemed appropriate to avoid having this happening again. In that regard:

  • When volunteering, please do not prop open any doors and ensure that doors are locked and latched before leaving.
  • Notice something strange or out of place? Please let Pr. Kennaugh, Donna Laughlin, or Dick Wauer know as soon as possible.

In light of recent news reports of theft of personal data, questions have also arisen regarding how Immanuel safeguards this private information. Immanuel works with a professional firm that researches, recommends, installs, and maintains firewalls and other appropriate security measures. The software used to process this information utilizes TLS software that is updated as new an d improved versions become available. In addition, the church and school (Headmaster) software provider follows industry best practices for security and notifies ILCS when software updates are required to ensure continued data protection.

physician and determined to not be communicable or until after 24 hours o
antibiotic treatment
  • Any known communicable disease

When absent more than three consecutive days, a written excuse from the health care provider must be submitted to the school office before the child will be allowed to return to school. Absences for children without the proper Documentation will be marked unexcused. Absence and truancy policies will apply.
