"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity."

Christian Character Awards

At the completion of every sport season, Immanuel Lutheran School awards a Christian Character Award to two students per sport who exemplify Christian sportsmanship and character.
The recipients are players who set a good example for others, are team leaders, are helpful and kind to others on the team, encourage team members and help them improve, show Christian sportsmanship through words and actions, and are outstanding representatives of Immanuel at home and away games or meets.
The 2017 Volleyball Christian Character awards were presented to Alexis and Taylor and the 2017 Cross Country Christian Character awards were presented to Chessie and Jack at the recent Fall Sports Celebration.
New Playground Surface
The PTL is looking for a few good men and women to form a committee for a new playground surface. They are looking for people with experience in construction, engineering, someone who’s good at visualizing spacial layouts, and, if possible, someone who has experience with the various playground surfaces (park planning or park/landscape architecture).

Surfaces currently under consideration are pour-in-place/solid rubber surface, or rubber tile construction. Because of the location of the playground, there are some challenges with construction. A committee IS needed to determine the best course of action to maximize Immanuel's awesome playground with the highest level of safety available, to maintain proper cushioning for fall heights. The current playset is not being changed, just the play surface.
The committee is being charged with determining the surface type, contractor and/or manufacturer, cost, and timing. The PTL has funds set aside to support this purchase.
Interested parties are invited to contact Principal Donna Laughlin .
Spirit Wear!

The Eagle Boosters have a special item in the new spirit wear order form that benefits the Investing in Discipleship campaign: all proceeds from the purchase of the stainless steel travel mug, which includes the Immanuel logo mark, will go toward the campaign.

Proceeds from all other items, including sweatshirts, t-shirts, scarves, hats, and backpacks, benefit the athletic booster fund, which supports ILS athletic teams and gym maintenance by helping to purchase supplies, jerseys, etc.

Click here for order forms . Checks should be made payable to Immanuel with “Boosters Spirit Wear” in the memo line.

Next Week in The Story
The Story is a compilation of the stories, poems, and teachings of the Bible condensed into accessible chapters. These chapters allow the reader to witness Bible events in the order in which they occurred. Each weekend at Immanuel during the 2017 2018 ministry year, a new chapter of The Story is introduced at worship. At Sunday School, Sunday adult Bible study, and during the week at Immanuel Lutheran School in religion classes and weekday Bible studies. Children and adults are delving into that same chapter; developing together as
Disciples of Christ. This book is available outside the church office for $5. A limited number of copies are available.
Chapter 10: Standing Tall, Falling Hard

1 SAMUEL 1-4, 8-13, 15
Blessing. This was meant to be the distinguishing mark of the people of God. God’s covenant with Israel required obedience and promised ultimate blessing. Yet, the period of the judges is anything but a time of obedience and blessing in Israel. More fitting descriptions are: Barrenness. Blindness. Battles. Bereavement. Blessing was hard to come by in those days. God’s people had abandoned God Himself, and “everyone did as he saw fit.” (Judges 21:25) Few remembered God’s commands. Even fewer obeyed.
