School Supply Drop-Off

In an effort to make things more convenient for families, Immanuel is moving school supply drop-off to the first day of school. Students may bring supplies to school on Wed., Aug. 16, and teachers will provide time at the beginning of the day for students to get organized. Parents may park in the school parking lot to assist their child into school with supplies, if necessary. School supply lists are available here.

Opening Chapel
Opening chapel for 2017 2018 takes place on Wed., Aug. 16, beginning at 9:30 AM in the sanctuary. Please join other parents and Mrs. Laughlin for coffee in the Fellowship Hall after drop off until chapel begins. After chapel, parents are invited to return to the Fellowship Hall to until school ends at 11:30 AM. Information on various church and school programs and events will be available. Please use the car line for pick-up. Car tags will be provided with student last name. Please post these in the windshield to facilitate a smooth pick-up process. Patience is the word of the day for the first few weeks!
Parent Meetings

Preschool Orientation Night is Thu., Aug. 10, 6-7:30 PM, beginning in the sanctuary. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend this informative evening to help them support their preschooler's education at Immanuel Lutheran School.


Middle School Curriculum Night, Tue., Aug 22, 6:30-8 PM, beginning in the sanctuary.


K-5 Curriculum Night, Tue., Aug. 29, 6:30-8 PM, beginning in the sanctuary.

First Day(s) of School


Kindergarten-Grade 8: Wed., Aug. 16

Grade school students may go to their classrooms 10 minutes before the official start of their day (8:30 AM). Students arriving early need to go to the Fellowship Hall/lunch room. A staff member will dismiss each class to their classrooms 10 minutes before start time each day. Please do not wait in the school lobby.

Preschool Enrichment: begins Aug 23 for those registered for Wednesdays 


Preschoolers may enter the classroom five minutes prior to the official start of their class.  Please wait in the hallway until 8:35 AM (morning students) or 12:25 PM (afternoon students).


At dismissal, parents may go to the classroom door five minutes before the end of the class at 11:10 AM (morning students) and 2:55 PM (afternoon preschool and Preschool Enrichment students). Please adhere to these times to prevent distractions for students and teachers.

Extended Care


ILS Extended care begins Thu., Aug 17. Morning extended care begins at 7 AM. Families with middle schoolers starting at 8:07 may bring younger student(s) to extended care free of charge beginning at 8 AM. Afternoon extended care begins at dismissal and lasts until 5:30 PM.

Hot Lunch
Immanuel’s hot lunch program is provided by North Island Catering/Bulldogs, a local Batavia business. Hot lunch is served each full school day and is an optional program. An email was sent to all school families with ordering information.

Information about Immanuel Lutheran School's online student information system was included with the hot lunch email. Please make all contact information changes on the Headmaster system.

Paperwork, Paperwork, Paperwork!

Please be sure all paperwork has been completed and submitted to the School Office. The following forms are required for all students as indicated: original birth certificate (new students), Accident and Emergency (all), Student and Family Information (all), medical and sports forms (all fall sports participants), and Supplies, Paperwork, and Fees (all).


Reminder: the following students as indicated are required to have a medical exam form on file: all incoming preschool threes; new preschool fours; Kindergartners (vision and dental exams also required); sixth graders (dental exam also required); sports participants (note that sports physicals are valid for thirteen months).

New Manna Program at Immanuel


The Manna company was bought out by a company called Shop with Scrip. Complete information about the new program will be sent home with students. Like Manna, this program earns money for Immanuel and for each family participating; plus it boasts more than twelve pages of merchants. Immanuel thanks Megan Watson for coordinating this new fundraising program for ILCS.

Four-Day Fours and Preschool Enrichment Classes

 

ILS is keeping the four-day fours morning preschool and the afternoon Preschool Enrichment classes open for the 2017-2018 school year. There are still openings available in both classes, so please share this information with friends, family, and neighbors who might be interested. Christopher Patterson Memorial Motorcycle Ride 

Sat., Aug. 5, 8 AM-3 PM, Batavia VFW Everyone is invited to join the ride this Saturday—no bike, no problem, cars are welcome! A hot breakfast is being provided free of charge for riders by the Batavia VFW and the Batavia Vikings. Entertainment will be provided by the band Identity Crises, and lunch by award winning VeteransQ will be available for purchase, as will several items up for auction. Proceeds are being donated to the Chris Patterson Memorial Foundation, Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans, and Immanuel Lutheran Church and School. Register here .
 
The ride will pass Immanuel’s campus between 11:30 AM and noon on Aug. 5. Members and friends are invited to gather on the ILCS lawn near Hart Road to wave flags and cheer for the riders in Christopher’s memory. Flags will be available at Immanuel or bring one from home. A fitting tribute to Immanuel’s special hero would be a lawn full of supporters—please consider participating!
Pr. Chris Davis Installation

Sun., Aug. 6, 4 PM Immanuel welcomes new discipleship pastor, Chris Davis and his family, Heather, Eli, and Rose. Pr. Chris will be installed at 4 PM this Sun., Aug. 6. Please consider joining the celebration, meeting Immanuel's newest staff member, and welcoming Eli and Rose to Immanuel Lutheran School!

Back-to-School Community Picnic 

Sun., Aug. 20, 11-2:30 PM Kick off the new school year in celebration with the Batavia community at the annual Back-to-School Community Picnic! The picnic is sponsored by Immanuel and held at the Peg Bond Center on the Batavia Riverwalk. The day begins with contemporary worship outdoors at the PBC at 11 AM. Beginning at 12 PM enjoy free snacks and ice water, bounce houses, a prayer tent, face painting, games and prizes, a Kids' Fun Run, and finally, the Back-to-School Blessing! Back-to-School Night At Kimmer's Ice Cream 

Thu., Aug. 24 Back-to-School Night at Kimmer’s Ice Cream (1 W. Illinois St., St. Charles) is another great way to celebrate the beginning of a new school year! Immanuel is hosting Kimmer’s Kares Night on Aug. 24, 6-9 PM. Kimmer's will donate 10 percent of all proceeds from sales accompanied by the fundraiser slip (slips will be available beginning the first day of school). Proceeds from Kimmers Kares are designated for the Immanuel Tuition Assistance Fund, which assists students and their families in need. Please support this important effort by stopping in for some yummy ice cream!
Operation Christmas Child Packing Party 

Fri., Nov. 10 Immanuel’s Third Annual Operation Christmas Child Packing Party is coming in November. In addition to items collected each month and financial donations, quart and gallon size Ziploc® bags are also requested. A team is being assembled to help organize this outreach event. The 2017 goal is to can pack even more boxes than last year to benefit children across the world. In addition, Immanuel hopes to reach further into the surrounding communities for individuals and groups who would like to partner in this effort.
