OVER $5,000 RAISED FOR VICTIMS IN HOUSTON
 Dash for Cash Helps Victims of Hurricane Harvey

SMCHS students raised over $5,000 in 60 seconds on Thursday August 31 for victims of Hurricane Harvey. This event was a heartwarming example of Caritas Christi in action. To read The Eagle Eye's story, click here.

Homecoming Dance 2017

The 2017 Homecoming Dance is right around the corner, and tickets are on sale now! We are excited to welcome all grade levels to this year's Homecoming Dance which will take place in the Moiso Family Pavilion on September 16, 2017! Buy early bird tickets for $70 at tickets.smhs.org before September 8th at 3:01 pm, when the price goes up to $90. Students will be expected to follow the guidelines for semi-formal dress, and all students must have a Master Dance and Event Contract on file. Any guests from other schools must have a guest contract submitted. Students must bring their ticket (mobile or printed) and their SMCHS student ID card in order to be admitted to the dance. Prom and Senior Cruise Pictures

If your son or daughter attended Prom this past May or the Senior Cruise this past August and they have not yet claimed their photo, please have them pick it up in the Activities Office as soon as possible.

Replacement IDs

If your son or daughter has lost or broken their student ID card, or has not received one yet, they will be able to get one in the Activities Office starting on September 11.

We Welcome You to Join Us!




The Arts Alliance is a parent-led organization whose mission is to raise visibility and provide support to the top-notch Performing and Visual Arts Programs at Santa Margarita Catholic High School.  We are a community of engaged parents who enjoy attending and volunteering at student performances, working with faculty and administrators to help continue the success of our growing programs,  and making social connections with fellow SM Arts parents while encouraging our students' artistic endeavors.   If you have a student enrolled in a visual or performing arts class (choir, instrumental music, art, digital video production, etc.) or in an extra-curricular arts activity (Eagle Regiment, Talon Theatre, Dance Team, etc.), we invite you to become a member of the Arts Alliance.  It's FREE, EASY, and FUN!  We welcome all SM community members who are interested in supporting the arts and our students in any capacity.  As a member, you will receive information about performing and visual arts news and upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and invitations to Arts Alliance social activities.  Your membership is valid for the 2017-18 academic school year. Brock Petersen '18 Named Boys' Water Polo 
Athlete of the Week by OC Register



Congratulations are in order for SMCHS senior, Brock Petersen, for earning the Athlete of the Week honor by the OC Register.  The UCLA-committed attacker scored four goals to help the Eagles beat county-ranked Laguna Beach, 11-6, and added a combined nine goals in victories against El Toro and San Juan Hills. The Eagles beat Laguna Beach in a duel of the CIF-SS Division 2 finalists from last season.

Reminder to Register Service Hours

All students should be registered into x2VOL in order to input, correctly, all of their service hours, whether those hours are their grade level service requirement or extracurricular. If you have already registered, you can now go directly to www.x2vol.com, click "log in" and use the same user name (usually, the student's SM email address) and password (usually, the same password the student uses at school) that you originally registered with. If you have not registered, please see Ms. Hanley and she will show you how to not only register, but how to enter your service hours.

  Students Don't Forget to Sign Up for Your Retreat!

Attention all grade levels! If you have not already signed up for your grade level's retreat please do so ASAP. Retreats are such a wonderful experience and they will help you in your journey through high school and beyond. School retreats fill up fast and are first come first served. The dates for all school retreats can be found below. Please be sure to contact Mr. Tait or Mr. Cabildo in the Campus Ministry Office for more information at [email protected] or [email protected]. 2nd Annual SM College Tour



9th-11th graders are invited to attend the East Coast college tour in April 2018.
The tour will travel though six states and include the following colleges:  

George Washington, Georgetown, Catholic University, University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins, University of Delaware, Villanova, Temple, Drexel, UPenn, St. Josephs, Princeton, Fordham, NYU, Columbia, Pace, and Seton Hall.

SMCHS offers an outstanding 24-hour in-class comprehensive SAT Prep Course covering all the Math and Verbal testing techniques and skills to prepare you for the harder & more difficult SAT test. The cost is only $500! Classes begin September 25, 2017 and will conclude on October 5 and will be  held at SMCHS in Room G309. Take our SAT Prep Course and be more confident with great results!

Additional eBook and Program licenses for your student's classes were added to your Facts Management account last week. These eBook and Program licenses are mandatory curriculum supplements for the class in which your student is enrolled. Follett cannot offer these specific requirements, as they are available for purchase only by schools. You should have already received information related to the required charge through Facts Management as a notice when checking out through Follett.

This charge is scheduled to automatically be deducted from the account you have on file with Facts Management. Please log into your Facts Management account to view fee amounts and due dates. As a reminder, any changes to your financial account or payment date must be made at least three (3) business days prior to the scheduled payment. Money Management Workshops Led by Mr. Frank Pisano
All Students Welcome-Every Other Wednesdays After School

All students are encouraged to attend the Eagles Edge Money Management Workshops to acquire the knowledge and skills of managing money!

Topics include:

* Tax-Free, Taxable or Tax-Deferred Accounts
* Diversification
* Stocks
* Bonds
* Real-life investment strategies and simulations

This is an incredible opportunity for students to attain a life-altering foundation of personal finance. Taught by Mr. Frank Pisano, classes will take place every other Wednesday in room C108

UPCOMING EVENTS
Ahoy all IB Candidates!



The SMCHS IB Programme invites all Class of 2018 and 2019 Full Diploma and Courses Candidates to participate in the 2017 IB Sail Adventure September 21-24, 2017 for an adventure on the high seas. We will sail the Dana Point Ocean Institute's 118 foot long tall ship Spirit of Dana Point to Catalina Island and back. Learn how to sail a tall ship, enjoy kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, an island BBQ and more.

This annual IB activity is a unique experience that allows students to directly experience life at sea as it has been for hundreds of years. Join the crew of the Spirit to help raise sail, handle lines, steer the ship, snorkel, kayak, and hike Catalina Island. Take time to simply sit back, relax and enjoy the majesty of sailing the seas aboard a tall ship.

Join the SM Robotics Team!

Interested in an engineering, business, or marketing career? The SM Robotics Team, "SMbly Required," functions like a business with some really cool products.  Right now we are like a startup business looking for more talent to help us expand.  Students are learning lifelong skills like CAD modeling, welding, project management, and so much more.  Some juniors have already earned paid internships at Applied Medical and seniors have been earning scholarships.  FIRST Robotics gives out over $50 million in scholarships every year.  Don't miss out on your opportunity to "go pro" in a real career.  We are in the process of building a T-shirt shooting robot that can be seen in the above picture. Feel free to post if you are looking for a family to carpool with in your area, of if you are able to provide carpooling yourself! Summer uniform cleaning reminder: When cleaning out your closets, please donate all clean uniform pieces, sweatshirts and spirit wear that you will no longer need back to the school. We have many families that can put these clothing items to good use!
