| Community Dialogues |
We are beginning the process of shaping the vision for Eanes ISD and its students by facilitating Community Dialogues to gather input, share information and identify community expectations. Our focal point is simple: the future of education for our students.
As a District, we are creating methods of innovative education to match what our students will face outside of the classroom. We are in a very exciting time in education, as new and creative methods for learning and teaching are being introduced each day. From primary to secondary, students are pushing the envelope in what they learn, how they learn and how it can apply to their next chapter.
Through a series of four public forums, the Community Dialogues will engage community and staff to refine the vision of Eanes ISD. The tentative dates are April 3, 10, 17 and 24. Our Board of Trustees and District leadership believe that our community must help us outline its expectations of our schools.
To coordinate the Community Dialogues, we are identifying a community-led Steering Committee that will facilitate the process. We will post updated information in this newsletter, on our website and through our social media sites. I encourage you to attend, invite your neighbors and share your highest hopes for our students and the need to prepare them for the world they will inherit.
Nola H. Wellman, Ph.D.

| What You Need to Know About STAAR |
Are you hearing rumors about the new State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) tests that begin this year? We've put together some FAQ's and links to help guide you through this new system.
STAAR tests replace the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). STAAR will continue to test the content standards of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS); however, the new tests will assess the state curriculum at a greater level of depth and complexity than previously and emphasize the skills that are needed to be successful in the next grade level or course. | WRMS Students Win Stock Market Game |
West Ridge Middle School students Eric Cen, Avadh Patel, and Cameron Lee were recognized for winning the annual Stock Market Game, sponsored by Texas Council on Economic Education. Students receive $100,000 in virtual money and invest in stocks and bonds during a 10-week period. The students ended up with a portfolio of more than $124,000, netting more than $24,000 in that time because of their investment strategy. The students were awarded with monetary prizes and the WRMS booster club received a check for $1,250 from Fidelity Investments.
This is the fourth time WRMS students, led by teacher Carol Reese, have won the Stock Market Game.
