Congratulations to our Teachers of the Year! I am always impressed when I visit our campuses, as I see the incredible instruction going on in the classrooms and experience the strong bonds that teachers have with their students. Every year we honor one teacher from each campus and every year it is difficult to select just one, but we have to narrow it somehow. I'm proud to announce the nine campus winners for the 2011-12 Eanes ISD Teacher of the Year! One district winner will be chosen from this group and announced at the Eanes ISD Employee Recognition Dinner in May. The campus winners are: Barton Creek Elementary Christie Isom, Kindergarten teacher Bridge Point Elementary Jessica Brown, Special Education teacher and half-time counselor Cedar Creek Elementary Jo Davis, Physical Education teacher Eanes Elementary Erin Worley, Kindergarten teacher Forest Trail Elementary Shannon Harvey, 1st grade teacher Valley View Elementary Courtney McWhirter, Art teacher Hill Country Middle School Pam Friday, Drama teacher West Ridge Middle School Martha Stary, 6th grade Science teacher Westlake High School Matt Zemo, Special Education teacher Congratulations to these excellent teachers and I hope you join me in thanking them next time you see them! |

Chamber's Education Progress Report
The Education Progress Report, is developed and issued annually by the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce's Education Progress Report Task Force. Eleven Central Texas school districts and their local Chambers of Commerce and Economic Development Boards participated this year.
The report focuses on high school graduation, college and career readiness, and college enrollment rates which are closely tied to the workforce talent and in turn, economic development in the region. It also serves as a tool for the community to track and assess school district performance trends. Additional indicators in the report give a comprehensive view of how the district is performing overall and gives further insight to predicting success for a future cohort of students leading up to high school.
