GTCC Sporting Clays Challenge was created in 2014 to provide scholarships, programs, and opportunities to benefit veterans and our public safety educational programs including law enforcement, fire fighting, and emergency responders.
Participate by playing, fielding a team, or serving as a sponsor for this year's event. Enjoy a challenging course, networking/promoting your business, and supporting a worthy cause - veterans and public safety professionals.
Piedmont Natural Gas team won last year. Fusion Institute won second place, and Bill Cochrane's team won third. The highest individual scorer was Richard Powers followed by Tony Santoro and Eric Potts. Many teams sponsored a student veteran or emergency responder as a part of their team.
Last year's tournament was held on a beautiful day and included , breakfast, a 14-station range, networking, and awards lunch. GTCC Foundation Board Past Chair Jim Bryant and GTCC President Randy Parker presented $2,000 in proceeds to support a public safety scholarship and the new GTCC Student Veterans Center.

About GTCC & Foundation
This year is the 50th Anniversary of the GTCC Foundation, created to support activities that help students gain access and succeed. Since 2008, the GTCC Foundation has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to assist students with academic and career goals.
GTCC serves more than 40,000 individuals each year through five campuses. Recognized for quality educational offerings, GTCC serves as a magnet for attracting business and industry to our region. The majority of our students remain in Guilford County and provide vital services each day that help improve the quality of life for everyone in our local community.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics (2003), 80 percent of police, 86 percent of firefighters, and 84 percent of EMTs received their credentials at community colleges. GTCC's public safety and healthcare departments provide basic and advanced training and skills maintenance to Guilford County's community of first responders. The college's public safety, basic law enforcement, firefighter and EMS training help first responders meet the requirements to obtain licensure and certification. Last year, 387 students were enrolled in GTCC's Basic Law Enforcement Training and Criminal Justice programs, 104 students in Fire Protection programs, and 93 students in EMS.
For the sixth consecutive year, GTCC has been included in the Military Friendly Schools® list recognizing the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide that deliver the best experience for military students, their spouses and children. Last year, more than 625 student veterans were enrolled at GTCC, and the college opened
a new Veterans Resource Center dedicated to enhancing their educational experience and providing guidance to veteran and military students who wish to utilize their military education benefits while attending GTCC.
