Shared Reading and Other Fun Activities!

Talk! Talk! Talk! Have conversations. Children learn language by listening.

Respond to what your child says and add new words or expand. If your child says "bus" you can say "yellow bus".

Talk about things you do while making dinner or cleaning house.

Read together every day! Reading together is a great way to help your child building a love for learning.

  • Make reading interactive! Let your child guess what the book is about by looking at the pictures.
  • Keep books in a special place that is easy for your child to get to
  • Ask your child questions while you read.
  • Let your child try to tell you the story.
  • Talk about what problem the characters are having. Let your child try to find a solution.
