Spark / TSM Model Update
We expect delivery of
the latest releases
from Spark and TSM Friday afternoon. Here are some of the highlights:
- Spark's 1/18 scale resin replica of Lewis Hamilton's 2014 Formula One Championship clinching Mercedes from the
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, seen above. Also in this shipment, Spark's 1/18 scale
2014 British Grand Prix version of Hamilton's Mercedes W05. Limited quantities on both.
- TSM Model's first Limited Edition (500) 1/18 scale McLaren Formula One release,
Gerhard Berger's MP4/6 from the 1991 Japanese Grand Prix. We'll post photos of the actual model on the
TMC Facebook page before we close for the Labor Day weekend Saturday afternoon.
Spark Advance Orders
This week, we received Advance Order requests from Spark for 60 new models set for future release. All sixty (59 in 1/43 and 1 in 1/18) have been uploaded to our
Online Shopping
website. The list contains an almost overwhelming selection of historic Formula One, Le Mans and other sports cars, Indianapolis cars (Dan Gurney's 1968 Rex Mays 300 winning
Eagle
is pictured above), Trans Am cars, Stock Cars, Touring Cars and Road Cars.
About a dozen of the additions are from Spark's various National Series collections, including an American National Series Limited Edition (500) of the
DeltaWing DWC-13
(driven by Rossi, Chaves et al) that ran in the 2014 Daytona 24 Hour.

One final model note: Minichamps has announced final production of their excellent 1/18 scale 1995 Le Mans winning #59 Ueno Clinic McLaren F1 GTR. Delivery is expected in 8-10 weeks. Reserve

Online Auction Update
Our August 31 Online Auction was successful but revealed a few small gliches with our Zencart software which we have identified and corrected. They involved email responses to non-winning bids. We expect to launch a new set of auctions late next week.
Yesterday's Wall Street Journal carried a feature story on Lewis Hamilton as he approaches several milestones in his extraordinary Formula One career. In one section, his fascination with the late Ayrton Senna is discussed:
"Hamilton never met his hero. Instead, he got to know him through compulsive viewing of a television documentary called Racing is in My Blood - Hamilton remembered the scenes of Senna whipping around a jet ski above all. A few years ago, Hamilton even test drove the McLaren MP4/4 that Senna piloted to the 1988 championship. So it's an eerie feeling, Hamilton said, to match Senna's pace almost exactly."

Labor Day Weekend
We will be open our normal 10am-3pm hours this Saturday but will be closed Monday, September 7 for Labor Day.
Porsche Rennsport V at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Since we had vendor displays at the last 3 Rennsport events at Daytona and Laguna Seca, we've been asked if we will be participating in Rennsport V later this month. It was a hard decision (not really) but I've decided to get out of the tent for a change and enjoy the atmosphere of Monterey as a spectator and a fan.
