Currently, the Planning & Development Department has 16 active projects. Once completed, approximately 341 jobs will be created or retained and will yield $71 million in capital investments.

 
Year to date, the Planning & Development Department has completed four projects, creating 269 jobs, totaling $2.1 million in capital investment the city.

Gahanna Police, Mifflin Township Fire and Gahanna-Jefferson Schools to Host Heroin & Opiate Town Hall Meeting

The Gahanna Division of Police, Mifflin Township Division of Fire and Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools are partnering to host a critical community discussion about the heroin and opioid epidemic on Thursday, April 20 from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Clark Hall, 380 Granville Street.  The purpose of this town hall meeting is to engage residents, raise awareness about the opioid epidemic and discuss strategies for prevention. 

Get Golfing this Summer with the 
Senior Golf League
 
Dust off the clubs and join the Senior Golf League for its organizational meeting on Thursday, April 20 at
10 a.m.
at the Gahanna Senior Center, 480 Rocky Fork Blvd.

The league plays Thursday mornings at the Gahanna Municipal Golf Course and other area courses. A Gahanna Senior Center membership is required to participate.

Spend Earth Day with Gahanna Parks & Rec

Join us in restoring beauty to our community this Earth Day on  Saturday, April 22 from
8 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
 at Woodside Green Park, 213 Camrose Ct.

The morning will kick off with a tree planting to celebrate Seeds for Sight,  a partnership program with Eye Columbus and the Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation that plants a tree for every pair of eyeglasses sold.  Other activities include the creation of a nature play area, tree planting, park and trails clean up, creek clean up and more.  A light lunch will be provided for all volunteers.  To volunteer, call  614.342.4250 or email [email protected].
 
Gahanna Residential Paper Shredding & 
Electronic Recycling Event

Recycle your unwanted electronics and paper documents this Earth Day at the annual Gahanna Residential Paper Shredding and Electronic Recycling Event on  Saturday, April 22  from
9 a.m. - noon
at the City Hall parking lot, 200 S. Hamilton Rd.  

Residents can drop off their family and household records for shredding as well as computers and other electronics devices for recycling.  
 
Gahanna Art Spotlight - Susie Lowder Art
Display and Art Sale

Throughout the month of April, artwork from Suzie Lowder will be featured in the lobby and on the second floor of Gahanna City Hall (200 S. Hamilton Rd.) during normal business hours and is available for purchase.

Lowder describes her work as "happy paintings" that represent what she loves. Lowder has traveled the state, participating in more than 30 art shows a year. She is also a proud partner in Pizazz, a co-op located in Worthington Mall. Lowder's work can also be found at the Gallery at Serendip in Powell, where she resides.

Celebrate All Things Herbal in Gahanna

Join us for two exciting herbal events this Mother's Day weekend. We invite you to attend An Herbal Affair on Friday, May 12 and Herb Day on  Saturday, May 13.

An Herbal Affair will feature a plant preview from Herb Day, along with food and cocktail pairings from local beverage crafters at the Ohio Herb Education Center, 110 Mill St. Creekside area restaurants will provide herbal inspired food samplings.  

Gahanna's annual Herb Day presented by Andrea Taylor, State Farm Agent, will take place at Creekside Plaza, 117 Mill St. This one-day day event is a celebration of all things herbal for the Gahanna community and the region. For more information on these events click here.  

The Early Bird Gets the Best Rates for Pools & Summer Camp

The early bird deadline to enroll your child in a Camp Friendship program and purchase a pool membership at the season's best rate is Sunday, April 30

Be one of the first 500 households to purchase your membership and receive a FREE five visit bonus pass. Rates will increase beginning May 1, 2017.

Your pool membership gains you entry into both Hunters Ridge Pool and Gahanna Swimming Pool and free or reduced admission to pool events. Installment payments are available for camp enrollment and pool memberships.
 
Social Media 101 at the Senior Center

According to the Pew Research Center, Seniors are among the fastest growing demographic for social media. Among Internet active seniors, Facebook is the preferred social media platform of choice. The City of Gahanna Marketing & Communications Department will be hosting a FREE one-hour basic training on social media on Wednesday, May 10 at 9:30 a.m. at the Gahanna Senior Center,480 Rocky Fork Blvd. 

The workshop will provide Gahanna seniors with the basic tools and training to get started on social media, provide an overview of the various digital media platforms, show participants how they can use social media to connect with family and friends, and share stories,events,images and videos using Facebook.

National Day of Prayer

The community is invited to attend the 66th annual National Day of Prayer event on Thursday, May 4, at noon at Creekside Plaza (117 Mill Street).

Created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman, National Day of Prayer invites people of all faiths to come together to pray for the nation.

Volunteer Spotlight: Gahanna Toastmasters 
 
Gahanna Toastmasters is a place where individuals can grow both personally and professionally. Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped millions of men and women to improve their confidence, leadership and communication skills.  
 
Club Meetings take place at the Everest Institute, 825 Tech Center Drive on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m.
