YOUR DOLLARS AT WORK
SEEDS DOCUMENTARY
SEEDS can now share their phenomenal work through a film, thanks to the School of Doc, a Full Frame Film Festival Summer Camp that teaches youth the art of making a documentary film. This summer, they filmed at SEEDS, interviewing and capturing the busy activity in the garden. The footage captures the personalities and spirit of SEEDS in the summer-- blooming! The result of all their hard work is this film which showcases SEEDS' personality, work and the people that make the Durham community the jewel that it is. Watch the film to learn more about what SEEDS does in Durham, NC.
CAROLINA MOUNTAIN LAND CONSERVANCY PROTECTS LAND IN ITS OWN BACKYARD
A great example of what Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy does across western NC can be found in their own backyard. The 2 acre Ironwood Square Arboretum once had only 8 types of plants and animals present but now is home to over 300. "Small parcels-wherever they are-can have a big impact on the environment. All landowners can be involved in conservation. We can literally achieve conservation in our backyard," says Tom Fanslow, CMLC Land Protection Director. Read "Saving Small Places," CMLC's August edition of Stories of the Land column from Blue Ridge Now.
