Congratulations to Winter Card Design Winner Isabella Rozenbergas!

Melzer student Isabella Rozenbergas' beautiful winter scene - complete with pine trees and a lone ice skater - graces the front of our 2016 District 63 winter card (see banner above).  Students from every D63 school contributed entries -- for a grand total of 57 wonderful works of art!

All of our winners were honored at the December 7 Board of Education meeting; check out our web  photo album of their work  -- you can click on the small "i" in the top left-hand corner of each picture for details about the artist.  And every contest entry is on display throughout December at the    Niles Public Library District .

#63Success: News From Our Schools

Apollo's Family Reading Night and Book Fair last Tuesday brought in a big crowd to enjoy a 5th/6th grade choir performance, a Niles Library craft for kids, hot cocoa, and reading fun!

Gemini's  Band was a big hit at the Niles Holly Jolly Market and Festival on November 26! In addition to kicking off the Festival to an appreciative crowd. The group got some great press coverage as well.

Mark Twain  welcomed Junior Achievement on Wednesday. JA volunteers worked with classes throughout the school to explore career choices - and learn what it takes to get and keep any job!

Melzer's Student Council is focusing on treating others with respect and including students who might be left out. Upcoming activities in December include "Complement Cards" and "Sit with Someone New at Lunch."

Nelson's  Club Nelson students presented to the Board of Education on Wednesday night, introducing this new program that takes place each Friday during recess. On display: work of the Chromebook and Building Clubs.

Stevenson's   Cici's Pizza fund raiser on November 29 brought in funds for the PTO - and many happy, hungry families! But students are giving back to others, too, this month by collecting gifts for Toys for Tots.

Washington  opened its December 10 Holiday Bazaar to the entire D63 community, offering gifts, free coffee, and treats for sale! Students had visited the "Penguin Patch" during the school week to do their own holiday shopping.
