SUMMER EDITION

Greetings!

As summer officially arrives,  we are excited to announce several new programs and upcoming events!  First, we have the return of swim! What was once one of our most popular programs is back this summer in Worcester!  We have a new Assistive Technology Regional Center being built out as I type here in our Worcester office. And, thanks to Comcast NBC Universal, launched our innovative new AT On-Demand program.

It's going to be a busy summer for sure, but I am incredibly proud of all we have going on here at Easter Seals MA.

Swim is Back!

In partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation’s (DCR) Universal Access Program, Easter Seals MA will be offering a free, adapted recreational swim program this summer at DCR’s Bennett Field Pool in Worcester. Lead by an aquatics instructor, the group will do water activities, including games, that will maximize independence skills in the water. The pool and changing areas are fully accessible and volunteers will be in the water to support the fun! Non-independent must provide their own 1:1 aides.

The program will be held on Tuesday mornings for six weeks: July 11-August 15 2017. Registration is currently open for children and adults.

New Assistive Technology Center Opening in Worcester!
Easter Seals Massachusetts was recently awarded a state contract through MassMatch to open a new Assistive Technology Regional Center (ATRC) in Worcester. We are currently in the process of renovating the Fuller Classroom in the Brazelton Center at our Worcester office which will be the new home for the ATRC- Worcester, and we expect to open in fall 2017.

ATRCs provide free assistive device demonstrations to adults, elders and educators on equipment that help with visual, hearing, communication, learning and cognitive challenges so they can make educated purchasing decisions about AT solutions to use at home, school or in the workplace. The centers also provide free short-term device loans so users can try out the devices for up to 30 days. The ATRC in Boston, also managed by Easter Seals MA, loaned out more than 630 devices in FY ’16.
