Williston Entrepreneurs, Businesses and Organizations earn Awards

Williston Economic Development - Williston celebrated Economic Development Week by recognizing the achievements of seven individuals, businesses and organizations at the annual Small Business Development Center / Williston Economic Development Awards Banquet. The celebration was held on Wednesday, May 9 at the Grand Williston Hotel. The winner of the 2018 Ambassador of the Year Award received a standing ovation from the more than 250 attendees. Cindy Sanford, Customer Service Manager for Job Service in Williston, was brought to tears by the honor (despite her claim that she wasn't a "crier"). Read More
State of the City Address remembers Past, prepares for Future
KEYZ Radio provided a live coverage of the State of the City Address May 9 in Williston.
KEYZ Radio - Williston Mayor Howard Klug walked his audience both at the Grand Williston Hotel and over the radio waves down memory lane May 9 during his State of the City address, augmented by visual slides of "before and after" shots of the city, now and back in 2008. "As we keep moving forward it's going to work, we are committed to downtown," said the Mayor. Gov. Burgum helps launch Sloulin Field Redevelopment Master Plan
Gov. Doug Burgum spoke to more than 200 people about the virtues of the Main Street Initiative and Sloulin Field Redevelopment project. Williston Economic Development

Price of Oil nears $70 per Barrel
Bloomberg - With breakthroughs in drilling technology reducing costs and crude oil prices near $70 a barrel, wells in North Dakota are turning into cash cows. Williston Herald - Hayden Kemp and his fellow student colleagues had a few things to say to Gov. Doug Burgum while he was in town for the Main Street roundtable talk. Kemp is a Williston High School student who was invited to participate in the high level discussion, which also featured many community and business leaders and five other students from WHS and Trinity Christian School.   Read More

With the explosion of new growth the need for more retail grows as well. A panel of city leaders and local business people convened to discuss the challenges of bringing new businesses in, and the options available to overcome such hurdles. Anytime Fitness to open in Sidney's Former JCPenney Store
The owner of the Anytime Fitness in Williston is working to lease space for a fitness center in Sidney.
Sidney Herald - The building where JC Penney made its home in Sidney will not be empty much longer. Roger Byer, owner of the building, said he is in negotiations with Anytime Fitness to lease the property. The lease agreement was mailed on Friday. Byer believes other nearby businesses will benefit having Anytime Fitness open. Read More

Heather Keenan has opened a new oxygen spa located in downtown Sidney.

CornerPost to celebrate Grand Opening May 12 in Watford City
McKenzie County Farmer - The CornerPost opened March 19, 2018, near the intersection of 4th Ave. NE, N.D. Highway 1806 and the U.S. Highway 85 bypass. Since that day, the store has been bustling with activity. A ribbon cutting will kick off the grand opening at 4 p.m. at 1415 W. Dakota Parkway, Suite 3B. The grand opening will continue until 8 p.m. with giveaways, demonstrations, entertainment and refreshments.
