Summer is over, and kids are back in school. However, there hasn't been much of a summer vacation at the Region 10 office. We just seem to keep getting busier and busier with so many new projects and events. Plus, our team of passionate and experienced professionals continues to grow. From economic diversification, broadband planning, creating new partnerships, and offering coursework in a new location, things just never seem to slow down -- and we wouldn't want it any other way.

In partnership with municipal and county governments in Delta and Gunnison Counties, the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, and numerous community stakeholders, Region 10 has been awarded a $245,000 EDA grant to support economic recovery and diversification efforts in Delta and Gunnison Counties, in response to the closing of the Oxbow coal mines. Learn how these funds will bring about new economic development opportunities to Delta and Gunnison Counties.

They are among a handful of companies in the industry with real-world experience in planning, community engagement, design/engineering, business modeling, financing, owning and operating fiber optic, wireless, and FTTH networks -- and now, they will be working to implement a blueprint for broadband in the six-county area served by Region 10. Please welcome NEO Fiber, and learn how this innovative group of consultants will be supporting efforts to expand the availability of affordable, accessible, and redundant broadband.

The North Fork Valley of Delta County prides itself on its small business environment. To help bolster this vibrant community of family- and locally-owned businesses, Region 10 is partnering with the Hive in Paonia to expand assistance and resources for small businesses.

As a 34-year veteran of the commercial lending industry, however, Linda Riba of Region 10 likes to remember that there are other words that begin with "C" as well.

"We can also look at context, character and collateral," Riba said. "They are all pieces of the puzzle."

Delta County Senior Resource Council and Region 10 announced the joint initiative to offer monthly, hour-long presentations on topics of interest to Baby Boomers, older seniors, and caregivers. Plan on attending one of these informative events.

During your most recent visit to your parent's home, did you notice some unsettling things? Spoiled food sitting out? A cluttered home? Or even bruising on their arms? Learn some helpful tips from our very own Options Counselor, Amy Rowan on how to help your parents get the help they may need.
Thank you for your continued support in making our six
-county region one of the best places to live and work.

Sincerely,

Michelle Haynes
