Ed's Update from General Assembly:  Day 3
Today commissioners and other visitors to the 222nd General Assembly spread out to worship at 30 different churches in Portland and the surrounding area. I went to the Savage Memorial Presbyterian Church which was a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be. They list 225 members, which is pretty big by PWV standards. (For some reason, I thought they only had 50-60 members. I guess I must have misunderstood since they seemed to have about 50-60 people in worship.)The church was founded in the late 1940's or early 1950's and at their peak they had over 600 members. A Rev. Savage was the founding pastor of the church. Early on in his ministry there was some church fight (maybe at a session meeting?) and he had a heart attack and died in the middle of it.
