"Messy Tables, Messy Mission was the title given to the Bible Study that started our day. It was led by Richard Boyce, a professor at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Charlotte, and was a consideration of 2 Samuel 9, where David invites Mephibosheth, Jonathan's son and Saul's grandson, to eat at the king's table. Was the king motivated solely by graciousness and his friendship with Mephibosheth's father or was this more of a power play by David to keep a potential rival to the throne under his control?
