Message from the Principal
Last month, one of our EES students, and her WMS brother, were picked up at Edgerton by the Greenfield Fire Department and took a ride to the firehouse for a tour. These lucky students were winners of this Whitnall Booster Club silent auction item. I'm jealous :)

Dear Edgerton Families,

Once again the holidays are upon us. We will do our part here to spread some holiday cheer. On Thursday, December 14th Mrs. McDonald will take our 3rd graders on a field experience to the Marcus Center of Performing Arts to see the Nutcracker. Viewing this performance by the very talented Milwaukee Ballet has become an annual tradition for our 3rd graders the past several years. In addition, EES second and third graders have been busy preparing for their upcoming holiday concert. Please mark your calendars for our second grade concert on Tuesday, December 19th at 6 pm and our 3rd grade concert on Wednesday December 20th at 6 pm.

I'm sure our students are eagerly anticipating the holiday parties coming up this December 22nd. Many thanks to the room parents and PTO for planning these special events. Also, thank you to the PTO for the successful Annual Craft/Vendor Fair and Holiday Shoppe that took place Saturday, November 18th. Continued thanks for supporting our students and staff at EES.

Looking forward, our PTO has an amazing event planned for December 16th. It's the Quaker Steak and Lube All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast from 8 - 10 am. A flyer was recently sent home about this and can also be found here

I want to wish all of you a safe and restful holiday season with family and friends.

Sincerely,

Chris D’Acquisto

Welcome to Our Long-Term School Counseling Sub!
Recently, we welcomed Ms. Emily Watson to Edgerton Elementary. Ms. Watson will be the long-term substitute for Mrs. Larsen, our school counselor. Ms. Watson was a high school counselor for 4 years as well as a track and cross country coach. She then earned her life coach certification and worked as a life coach for the past 2 years. While she loved coaching, she felt a strong pull to get back into the school environment. She is excited to be at EES and is looking forward to working with our students. Ms. Watson can be reached at 414-525-8903 or [email protected]
December Concerts
Genius Squad
This group of fifth grade students is known as the Genius Squad. They work together, in small teams to clean and maintain technology in classrooms before school one day a week. Their enthusiasm for helping others is evident as they travel the hallways of Edgerton Elementary School.
PTO Marcus Theatre and Kringle Fundraiser
For those participating in the Marcus Theatre and/or Kringle Fundraisers, the pick up date will be Thursday December 14th. You may pick up after school in the school lobby or during the PTO meeting (7:00 pm) that evening in the EES library.
Cold Weather - Dress for It :)
Students will go outside when the temperature / wind chill is above 0 degrees . Please be prepared for the weather conditions by making sure you child has a warm winter jacket, hat, gloves, snow pants and boots. When snow arrives, students without boots and snow pants will only be able to play on the blacktop area. It is also a good idea to send an extra pair of socks along on those snowy days so your child can have dry feet after recess time..
Instrumental Music Update
The 4th grade orchestra students are working on mastering bowing on the A and D strings, holding the bow properly, counting accurately and reading/memorizing the notes on the treble clef. There is a lot to learn when starting lessons on a new instrument. The students are making good progress. Please continue to remind your child to practice their instrument regularly and come prepared to lessons each week.
The 5th grade band and orchestra students are very busy practicing and preparing holiday music. The students would like to visit and perform in classrooms during their December lesson time. They are also looking forward to performing the holiday songs in the hallway as students enter the building. This will take place later in the month. The students are very excited as they master a song. Please continue to encourage them to practice daily!

K4 Friendship Feast
Recently, we had a K4 Thanksgiving Friendship Feast. To prepare for this special day, we learned about the Pilgrims and Native American Indians and the first Thanksgiving. We talked about what each of our K4 families are thankful for too. The K4 kids were also busy making special place mats, decorations and turkey hats too for this fun event.  At our Friendship feast, we read some Thanksgiving books and poems, sung a few Thanksgiving songs, played a Thanksgiving “ I Spy” game, and enjoyed eating food with our K4 friends! Thanks to all who baked or bought food /paper goods for our Friendship Feast! Thanks to the parents who helped to serve the food at our Friendship Feast too! We certainly had a wonderful time celebrating with our K4 friends.
D.A.R.E. Night at the Admirals Game
Launched in 1983, D.A.R.E. is a comprehensive K-12 education program taught in thousands of schools in America and 52 other countries. D.A.R.E. curricula address drugs, violence, bullying, internet safety, and other high risk circumstances that today are too often a part of students’ lives. Students in grade 5 at EES will take part in the D.A.R.E. program beginning in January. The Admirals game on Friday, January 19 will have a D.A.R.E. focus with D.A.R.E. themed activities during intermissions. All EES families are invited to attend. Click here for more information about how to order tickets.
EES Holiday Shoppe and Craft/Vendor Fair
Thank you to our EES PTO for organizing the event and also a big thanks to the volunteers. We are very grateful for your efforts. The turnout for the third annual Holiday Shoppe and Craft/Vendor Fair was strong. It was also nice to get a visit from Santa!
