July 2012
We don't know about you, but that big, bright yellow thing in the sky has been making us absolutely giddy. Please, may we have some more?
Tastes Like Summer
We've already had some fantastic raspberries, blueberries, apricots, and cherries this year. Looking for simple ways to enjoy these seasonal fruits?

Try this blueberry cake, apricots stuffed with blue cheese, or chunky cherry jam. How about a cocktail of gin, blueberry and basil? Squash blossoms can be harvested, stuffed with cheese, and fried. Homemade condiments for summer barbecue parties? Here's how to make your own mayo, mustard, and ketchup
Goings On
Garlic festivals galore! Two on the weekend of August 18th: The Edible Vancouver Garlic Festival at Limbert Mountain Farm is August 18th and Terra Nova Sharing Farm's is on the 19th.

September brings Naramata Bench's Tailgate Party, the annual Feast of Fields, Fraser Valley Cork & Keg, and the smokin' hot annual competition, BBQ on the Bypass.

Flood Relief
A wet June and rapid snow melt resulted in flooding through much of BC. In Abbotsford, Glen Valley Organic Farm lost about $40,000 in crops. Vancity has agreed to match the public's donations, so if you can help, even in a small way, it will be greatly appreciated.
High Summer 2012 Issue
will start arriving at these distributors over the next few days. Inside you'll find stories about cheese stuffed with more cheese! Also fresh sardines and hot-and-cold chocolate pops. Stay tuned to our Facebook page and Twitter feed to find out where you can get your copy.
