About the Program
The Mohegan Tribe of Indians of Connecticut and the Mashantucket (Western) Pequot Tribal Nation, the two federally-recognized sovereign Indian tribes in Connecticut, have well-established court systems for the adjudication of disputes arising from activities on the tribal reservations.

This seminar covers the legal foundations for tribal court jurisdiction over individuals and entities asserting claims against tribes, tribal entities, or tribal representatives and claims by those parties against others. Also discussed is the relationship of tribal courts with state and federal courts, the enforcement of judgments across jurisdictional lines, and the enforcement of discovery subpoenas and compulsory process.
