Join teachers from across the state in this surprising and lively introduction to lessons that will help your students come to know more about choosing healthy foods, growing vegetables, increasing their physical activity, and increasing their communication and leadership skills.

Iowa Capitol Virtual Tour

Grade Range: 4-6

Take an interactive virtual tour of the Iowa State Capitol via the ICN. In the session students explore the Capitol building from the rough-cut stone sub-basement to the golden dome. They are also exposed to the three branches of Iowa government and a short lesson on the history of Iowa and its Statehouse.

Animal Winter Preparation

Grade Range: K-5

Where do animals go in the winter? How do they survive cold winter nights? Students will learn the different ways animals prepare for the long winter ahead. Find out which animals are true hibernators and discover animals aside from birds that migrate. The program allows time for student questions so please come prepared.
