2017 PGA of America Scholarship Winners Announced

The PGA of America recently announced its 2017 PGA Scholarship winners and we're thrilled to announce that eight Colorado PGA member-affiliated students were selected to receive scholarships just one year after only one Colorado PGA member affiliated student earned the scholarship. 

Note: the Colorado PGA REACH Foundation Scholarships will be announced next week in the Chip Shots weekly email
Professionals Needed for Ft. Carson Ivy Pro Am

The 2017 Ft. Carson IVY Pro Am will take place on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Cheyenne Shadows Golf Course at Ft. Carson.  We are looking for ten (10) more Colorado PGA Professionals to volunteer their time where PGA Professionals will team up with active duty and retired service members for an 18-hole scramble.

Northern Set to Compete in Senior PGA Championship

Mike Northern, PGA Life Member from Colorado Springs, CO will compete in the 2017 Senior PGA Championship set for Trump National Golf Club in Potomic Falls, Virginia from May 23-28, 2017.

Smigelsky Goes Across Town to Claim Fort Collins Country Club Title

Dale Smigelsky, Director of Golf at Collindale Golf Course didn't have to go far for his first win of the year.  Smigelsky fired a three-under-par 68 to win the Fort Collins Country Club Pro Am on Monday.

Registration Open for Colorado PGA Senior Professional Championship

Registration for the Colorado Senior PGA Professional Championship is now open! The event, open to all PGA Members 50 years of age and older as of  September 28, 2017 will be held at Valley Country Club, August 14-15, 2017.

Lash Advances to US Open Sectional Qualifier

Colorado PGA Apprentice Rich Lash advanced to the US Open Sectional Qualifier on Monday, May 15, 2017 at CommonGround Golf Course.  Lash, an Instructor at Bear Creek Golf Club, played the first six holes in four-over before finishing his last twelve seven-under.

Match Play Fills Up; Brackets Announced

64 players signed up for the 2017 Colorado PGA Match Play Championship.  The 64 players were broken into pods for round-robin play where one player will advance from each pod.

Register Today for the National Car Rental Assistant Professional Championship!

Registration is now open for the National Car Rental Colorado Assistant Professional Championship set for July 31-Aug. 1 at Highlands Ranch Golf Club.
      
The event is open to Class A-8 Members and all Apprentices who must be eligibly employed and in good standing at the time of entry and the entry deadline date of July 12, 2017.

The Club at Cordillera Set to Host Pro-Pro, June 2, 2017

The third West Chapter tournament of the year is coming up soon as The Club at Cordillera (Valley Course) will host the Pro-Pro Championship on Friday, June 2, 2017.  The event starts at 2:00pm and has a $125 entry fee per person.

Three girls state high school tournaments on tap for first time

Next week's girls state high school golf tournaments will usher in a new era in several respects.

Most notably, for the first time, Colorado will hold three state tourneys for girls golf, with the 3A classification being added to the existing 5A and 4A. From 1990 through 2000, there was just one girls state meet, then from 2001 through '16 there were two.

Survey Shows Salaries For Superintendents Have Risen 4.7% In The Last Two Years

Employers of golf course superintendents continue to reinforce the value they place in golf course facility leaders as the average annual salary for the profession climbed to more than $89,000 in 2017.
