YES, you already know that June 1 was the official start of hurricane season, but with summer now here, hurricanes are not the only weather or public safety event that you need to be prepared to take action.
Both the City of Lake Mary and Seminole County Government have E-Alerts and Reverse 911 call systems to keep you informed of tornados, missing persons, Amber alerts, boil water alerts, street closures, health and pandemic issues, criminal alerts and more. These services are FREE (your wireless carrier may charge a fee for messages to your wireless device). All you have to do to receive text alerts is to register online. Here's how:
City of Lake Mary: Simply enter your email address or phone number for your smart or cell phone at http://www.lakemaryfl.com/ealert.cfm
and you will receive a validation email/text message to confirm your registration. E-Alert Categories include Fire/Emergency Management, Police, and Public Works.
Prepare Seminole: When an emergency occurs, you will instantly be notified. Alert Seminole is your personal connection to real-time updates, instructions on where to go, what to do, or not do, who to contact and other important information. Log on to http://www.prepareseminole.com/prepare/ to register. This site will also provide information on how to make an emergency plan, build an emergency kit for your family and your pets, and you can get tips on how to protect your home. This is also where you register for Reverse 9-1-1 calls.
Don't wait until an emergency is here - prepare now!
