| Genesee County Elects Animal-friendly Board Members |
Genesee County Board of Commissioners will become an animal-friendly BOC beginning in January 2015. Congratulations to Mark Young (District 5) and Bryant Nolden (District 1) who won their elections and will join Jamie Curtis (District 3), Tony Brown (District 6), and Mike Lynch (District 7) in efforts to make a difference to animals at Genesee County Animal Control.
GRACE volunteers and other animal advocates throughout the county worked tirelessly to promote the animal-friendly candidates and increase voter turnout. Voters also narrowly passed a millage for an additional .2 mills for 7 years to supplement and support operations and modernizations of the Genesee County Animal Control Shelter. If utilized strategically, this could help the new Board to improve the lives of homeless animals in the facility and county.
