A twice-monthly e-newsletter for clergy and laypeople
interested in the work of the Diocese of Rhode Island
Events, Resources, & News You Can Use

A note about format:

Thank you to those who let us know the links in the table of contents in previous issues weren't working for you. It turns out that tables of contents are no longer supported in many email programs, because they can disguise malware. So we won't be making the table of contents linkable any more. Folks will just have to scroll to things of interest.

Clergy,
please note that articles especially relevant to you are in the "Specifically for clergy" section. This section replaces the old "Clergy E-news."

RESOURCES YOU CAN USE
How to help Haiti after Hurricane Matthew

Disaster relief agencies in Haiti are assessing larger needs in the aftermath of the destruction wrought by Hurricane Matthew. Those who wish to respond immediately with donations of money might consider doing so via Episcopal Relief and Development, or via the medical charity Americares.  Bulletin inserts for Episcopal Relief and Development are available here y disponsable en espaƱol aqui

The Rev. Buck Close, deacon at St. John the Evangelist in Newport, is head of 1000 Jobs Haiti and has years of experience working alongside the Haitian people. His organization is redirecting all their efforts to hurricane relief, and as more information becomes available about the most pressing needs, he has promised to let us know how people may direct their desire to help long-term.

Disaster Preparation and Response Resources

Our diocesan Property Committee has assembled various resources to help parishes plan for disasters. Check out the Property Committee page on our website, including this new article by Joannie Collins, our Diocesan Risk Officer.
Season of Prayer for an Election

This election season has been among the most contentious in recent memory. But whatever our politics, as Christians we always have something we can do. We can pray. For the 30 days leading up to the election, Episcopal publishing organization Forward Movement is calling Episcopalians and all others to join us in a time of prayer.  More information, including bulletin inserts, is available  here.

Ideal for an election year when it is important to think about what the candidates are REALLY saying!  Includes Leader's Guide for eight initial sessions.  Download for free here with coupon code EDRI100.
