EAI July eNews
It's a new day for elephant rescues in the U.S.!
Join EAI in the launch of
Elephant Refuge North America!

In an exciting development, EAI has found land suitable for the establishment of a new elephant rescue, rehabilitation and education center -             Elephant Refuge North America (ERNA).

Elephant Refuge North America will take captive elephant care to a new level.
The refuge will build on the knowledge gained over the past two decades by the two U.S. sanctuaries, EAI's projects in Asia and the latest scientific advances.

ERNA will have it all.
Climate and landscape perfect for elephants -- rolling hills, meandering streams, densely wooded areas and lush pastures.

The elephants will come first.
Using Carol Buckley's compassion-based method of handling and rehabilitation, the refuge will be structured around and based on the needs -- biological, social, intellectual and emotional -- of each individual elephant.

Family will be at its heart.
The refuge will create a family of elephants and caregivers, a place of safety and continuity.

It will be a center of cross-cultural learning.
Partnering with universities and governments, Elephant Refuge North America will host mahouts who want to increase their knowledge and learn new ways of working with elephants.

Help "Unchained" Reach a Wider Audience

Independent filmmaker Alex C. Rivera has produced  "Unchained," a documentary on the harsh reality of elephants' lives in Asia, and the work of Carol Buckley and EAI to improve their lives.

The film is complete but now needs to raise funds for distribution so it reaches the widest possible audience.

Visit the "Unchained" website and please  support its distribution fund.
