The afternoon of May 21st begins to wind down...
Like the mighty Mississippi, all roads lead south. A great deluge comes...
The time slowly ticks its way to the sound of the night's first pistol crack. Runners from the north, east, and west begin to surface in a little neighborhood tucked away on Green Acres Road in Metairie, Louisiana. It is here that a little known meet to some, to others-legendary- will once again come alive to house THE MEET UNDER THE LIGHTS. High school, college, and post collegiate road mercenaries will soon unite..
State Champions from different eras, and in some cases eons (Jim Marsalis) will soon be circling the track in pursuit of "times" both from variations of the clock or the overall feel and atmosphere from which the meet brings...
The invitational mile boasts of some of the state's best, ready to aggressively assault the oval. However, by no means is this meet solely for the fast at heart, but for those who have a love for running and the festivities that surround such occasions. The meet is open to all with events such as the Open 3K (gender separated), open mile, the 3 legged 400 (talk of world records from the defending champs whispers on the wind), and relay races of 4x800 and 4x400 (costume encouraged)...
Speed and ability is irrelevant, there is something for everyone... Run, Relay, Costume, Spectate!!!
