For the sixth straight game the Jackals struck first to take a 1-0 lead. Rob Bellamy took a shot from low on the left wing that eluded Cincinnati goalie Brian Foster and hit paydirt at 8:36. Jordan Pietrus provided a screen in front after giving the puck to Bellamy, and Kevin Harvey also assisted. The Cyclones answered back with a shorthanded goal by Charles-Olivier Roussel with 45 seconds left in the first. It was the first first-period goal Elmira had allowed on the season. Maxime Clermont stopped the other three shots he saw in the first in his first start as a Jackal.

The second period was a struggle for control of the game as the teams traded power play opportunities and scoring chances at both ends. It ended up being Danny New to break the stalemate with his first professional goal. After some puck-work down low by Demkov and Dustin Gazley the puck found New in the high slot and he blasted a slap shot in with 17:17 gone by. Clermont turned away eight shots in the frame to allow Elmira to take the lead into the final frame.

In the third Clermont stole the show with 20 saves - many of them of the spectacular version. Near the midway point he made a lunging glove save on a try by Mathieu Aubin from the low slot. On the ensuing faceoff, though, David MacDonald took a point shot that was tipped by David Pacan past Clermont to tie the game with 9:06 to play. Elmira was granted a power play opportunity with 1:12 left in regulation. While the go-ahead goal never came in regulation it didn't take much time in the extra session for that goal to materialize. Thirty nine seconds in Jordon Southorn and Gazley set up Demkov on the door step and he had a wide-open net to send in the winning goal.

Clermont stopped 31 shots in earning his first win of the season. Elmira ended the night 2-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
