A Message from the Superintendent

Dear Lovejoy Community:

In case you are still in summer mode, school does start on Monday, August 22nd. As a reminder, traffic and parking will be a challenge on the first day of school, but will get better as we move through the first week. My annual advice is: leave early and take an extra dose of patience. Traffic does improve as we all get acclimated to our new school year routine and more and more kids move from parent transportation to LISD bus transportation. Speaking of buses, the 2016-2017 bus routes are posted; go to our website:  www.lovejoyisd.net> Departments> Operations> Transportation. Routes are in the box on the right side of the page.

On our website, you will also find other important information under parent resources.  Important for everyone are school start/end times:

  • Elementary: 8:00-3:05
  • Intermediate: 7:45-2:50
  • Middle School: 8:55-4:00
  • High School: 8:45-4:15

As always, I am happy to be a resource for any last minute information you may need. If I am not in your contacts, add my cell to your phone, and either call or text if you need help finding information for school.

Lovejoy welcomed our 2016-2017 staff members to the new year at our annual convocation event which was held on Monday at Lovejoy High School.  The Board of Trustees hosted a breakfast for the staff, and joined us for convocation. The energy at the kickoff event always supports an optimistic outlook for the upcoming school year.

Schools without kids are a very depressing environment for those of us who chose education as our life's work. We cannot wait for your kids to show up on Monday morning.  It is going to be another great year to Love Where You Learn.

Congratulations to the Lovejoy Cross Country Boys' Team.  They are ranked #1 for 5A in the Cross Country Association's Pre-Season Poll.  You may click here for additional information.

The Leopard Volleyball team is off to an excellent start in 2016 with a 10-1 record.  Last night the Lady Leopards (5A) knocked out the reigning 6A state champs (Hebron) in 3 games.  Congratulations to the team and coaches on a great opening season and a great win last night.

A Message from the
Deputy Superintendent

Dear Lovejoy Community:

I hope you are enjoying the last week of your summer break.  We are excited to have the students back with us on Monday, and look forward to another great school year.

This week, teachers are preparing for your children by readying their classrooms, participating in professional development, and collaborating with their peers to be sure each student has an experience that is second to none.

One part of this preparation week is honoring our Bright Spot session speakers from Learning @ Lovejoy.  Bright Spots are sessions presented by Lovejoy ISD staff members who have demonstrated success with new and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Each year, we honor these Lovejoy teachers and administrators with a luncheon as a small token of our appreciation for their willingness to share their experiences and expertise.

Pictured below is a snapshot of a twitter feed featuring the Bright Spot session, presented by Courtney Todd and Jason Eairheart:

We hope you have received all of the valuable information you need for your children and your family to kick off Monday with the best school experiences of their lives.  If you have feedback to help us improve, please do not hesitate to contact me on my cell.

Respectfully,
Dennis Muizers
