A Message from the

It is hard to believe we are almost at the Thanksgiving break. As you know, each year we offer Learning @ Lovejoy which is two weeks of professional development for educators. However, throughout the school year, we provide learning opportunities for teachers and administrators, as well as educational sessions for parents and community members. Tonight, there is a session, "SAFE! Issues Affecting Today's Teens and How You Can Help" presented by Vanita Halliburton and Dr. Ray Levy. In this session, participants will learn key information to help recognize teens in distress, promote brain health, foster resiliency and positive coping skills, know the warning signs of suicidal behavior, find help for a struggling teen, and implement protective measures to keep teens SAFE!
for additional information regarding the presenters.
The session begins at 6:00 PM in the Lecture Hall at Lovejoy High School.
We hope you love where you have chosen for your child to learn. If you have feedback to help us improve, please do not hesitate to contact me on my cell at 214.385.1967 or via email at

You see it sprinkled in college catalogs, corporate mission statements, and in employee training seminars: Diversity. A New York Times piece recently made the claim that the ubiquitous word has all but lost its meaning. This lecture, presented by Dr. Salena Brody, will revisit what diversity really means for our schools, workplaces, and communities, focusing on social science research from the past half century.
