Temporary Closure of CCR Shelter Due to Canine Flu

We are dismayed to report that despite extreme caution and illness prevention and management protocols, CCRF has unfortunately just confirmed our first case of CIV (Canine Influenza Virus).  A dog, Jasmine, that was adopted eight years ago was returned to us and had been recently boarded at a local boarding facility where she contracted the disease.  Due to the quick thinking of our amazing staff, Jasmine was immediately isolated and a quarantine protocol enacted.  Sadly, because of the need to act as aggressively as possible to contain any possible spread of the disease within our shelter and our community, we have decided to close our shelter to the public until further notice.  We are very hopeful that our preventative measures were effective in minimizing the risk to other animals in our shelter and will absolutely keep you, our supporters, up to speed on any developments.  Consequently, the shelter is now closed for adoptions (unless the animal resides in a foster home) and for volunteer dog walking and in-shelter dog socialization. Thanks so much for your well wishes as we navigate this challenge - we're looking forward to being back in action as soon as our vets feel that we are ready to open our doors again.  Keep in mind that volunteer opportunities still exist - can you throw a supply drive or a small fundraiser to help get us through this?  Below is a list of the most needed supplies outside of monetary donations!  Thank you for your support!

Supplies Needed:

Lysol Aerosol Spray

Hospital-type gowns and shoe covers

Pedialyte

Meat-flavored baby food (no onion powder)

Bleach
