It's already the day after Halloween. Costumes have been put back in closets, face paint has been washed down the drain, and our stomachs are full of delicious candy! This November, Empowering Minds celebrates Native American Heritage Month and Thanksgiving. Below you'll find pictures from last month's Mental Illness Awareness Event, American Indian Resources, information about Thanksgiving food assistance, information about Baltimore Metropolitan Thanksgiving events, and agency news and updates.

Mental Illness Awareness Week
|
|
The first week of October was Mental Illness Awareness Week, and in celebration of awareness, Empowering Minds took families to Fun City to enjoy roller skating, bumper cars, miniature golf, and laser tag!

American Indian Resources
|
|
The Baltimore American Indian Center provides
cultural classes, a Native American Senior Program for those 65 years and older and those 55 years and older with disabilities, a health and healing program, and a Native American School Art Program. They also host events and have a Heritage Museum.

Native American Lifelines of Baltimore has an Urban Indian Health Program, which provides behavioral health and substance abuse counseling, case management, cultural activities, dental care, health promotion/disease prevention, healthy Native parenting, HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis prevention, prison outreach programming, support groups, suicide prevention, tobacco education, transportation services, trauma specific interventions, and youth programs to American Indian individuals and families.

Sign up at your closest Anne Arundel Department of Social Services to receive a food basket distributed by Anne Arundel County Food and Resource Bank. Baskets are first come, first serve.
