TPO Fits, Donates Helmets at Melbourne Launch FCU
The TPO participated in a kids' safety day event at  Launch Federal Credit Union  in Melbourne to celebrate its three-year anniversary.

We fit over 25 kids for new helmets and provided bike/ped safety information.   More Photos
City of Cocoa Beach, TPO Celebrate Minutemen Corridor Complete Street Project 
The TPO recently celebrated the completion of City of Cocoa Beach 's  Minutemen Corridor Stormwater and Streetscape Improvement project. This complete street was the result of a funding partnership between multiple agencies and it incorporates a Low Impact Design (LID) that keeps storm runoff out of the Banana River Lagoon. More photos

The TPO board set-aside three years of funding for complete street projects throughout Brevard County.   Complete streets ensure that the entire right-of-way is routinely designed, constructed and operated to enable safe access for all users and they make economic sense.     City of Titusville's Community Development Department
    Participates in the Adopt-a-Trail Program 
    City of Titusville’s Community Development Department recently became the first group to participate in the Adopt-a-Trail program.

    Marching west from Canaveral Avenue, the department picked up a total of eight bags of trash and two bags of recyclable goods along Main Street.

    The Adopt-a-Trail program allows businesses, clubs, and other organizations to adopt a half-mile stretch of the new multi-use trail, running from the Brevard-Volusia County line through downtown Titusville. The adopters are responsible for picking up litter throughout the year on their trail.

    Palm Bay PD Promotes Back to School Safety

    In a recent press release and social media post, the City of Palm Bay Police Department reminded drivers to be mindful and cautious as students and crossing guards return to city streets in the coming weeks.

    TPO Fits, Donates Helmets at Titusville Community Event
    The TPO recently fit over 30 kids for new helmets at a kids' safety day event held at the City of Titusville, Florida - Gateway to Nature and Space Welcome Center and the Coast to Coast Bicycle Company

    Titusville Fire and Emergency Services and the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce were there in support, as well as Kona Ice North Space Coast and Lisa Ewertz Mosier of Florida Property Center.   More Photos

    Hickory Complete Street Project to  Re-advertise for Bid
    The Hickory Street complete street project will re-advertise for bid in September 2017. The project includes the complete street renovation (see concept photo below) of Hickory Street from New Haven Avenue to NASA Boulevard, a  project length of approximately 1.02 miles. Complete Streets are designed and constructed with all users in mind.  

    The Space Coast TPO is a funding partner with City of Melbourne on Hickory project.   Project scope includes reconstruction of the existing 2-lane and 3-lane roadway, miscellaneous widening, and milling and resurfacing. Other improvement includes updated sidewalks, ADA curb ramps, bike lanes, drainage improvements and other utility improvements. 
    SCAT to Update Transit Development Plan 
    A Transit Development Plan or TDP is a 10-year plan required by the Florida Department of Transportation in order to receive state transit funding.  Data, public participation, and community goals help to shape this strategic plan that will help lead in developing the transit system of Brevard County over the next 10 years.
     
    Space Coast Area Transit has held three public meetings to provide citizens with the opportunity to provide comments/input and ask questions during the development of the plan.  The meetings were: June 13th at the Government Center in Viera, August 2nd at the Cocoa Beach Library, and August 3rd at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library in Melbourne.     City of Cape Canaveral to Hold Inaugural Fido Field Day
    To celebrate National Dog Day, the City of Cape Canaveral- Official Site will host Fido Field Day on August 26, 2017, at Manatee Sanctuary Park.  There will be lots of active, pet-friendly games and events.   View details here
