There is a concept called "
learned helplessness" which comes from the belief that we are stuck in what we know. Our options seem limited. This mindset arises from the perception of repeated failure, or messages that reinforce the belief that we cannot act successfully on our own behalf.
Decades in traditional employment can have the affect of convincing us that we must settle for any available job because we are not "special" like those who define their own ideal futures - and then, act to achieve them.
Nothing could be further from the truth. We have many, many choices we can make that will take us to a preferred future for ourselves. Exploring those choices in a group setting and getting support from others who want to see us succeed can make all the difference.
Encore NEO is here to help - no matter what your situation. Come join us.

Mastering Money and Building Wealth
Format: This facilitated discussion group draws from a wide range of resources to explore the basic mindsets, principles, and practices that will help us make the best choices for our financial futures.
Note: We define
wealth as the number of days you can sustain yourself financially without working.
This week we start a new 6-month foundational program based on The Personal Finance Series by Richard Reis. This series will lead you through and in-depth exploration of what it takes to be successful at saving, earning, and investing money.
Please read and be prepared to discuss the following two letters prior to the program...
For many of us, chicken salad is just another sandwich filling, but Stacy Brown turned it into a $75 million business. In 2007, she was a divorced mother of three looking for a way to make ends meet. So she started making chicken salad in her kitchen and selling it out of a basket, door-to-door. She eventually turned that home operation into Chicken Salad Chick, and took her recipes to cities across the U.S. Today, Chicken Salad Chick is one of the fastest growing companies in the country.
We'll be discussing this story through the lenses of the Business Model Generation Canvas, Blue Ocean Strategy Map, and Consumption Chain Analysis.
Then, we'll see how our insights might apply to our own Encore Careers.
