Healthy Choices One Bite at a Time Rather than focusing on yearly resolutions, another effective way is to make smaller healthier changes as part of your family's routine. You can try doing one new simple healthy choice together each day or pick a new one to try for a week. You may be surprised to learn that even the simplest of changes can make a difference in your long term health and your child's health. There are lots of ways to promote healthy choices. Find what works best for you and your family and make a commitment to do it 'one bite at time'. And remember to try to keep it positive and fun!
Here are some healthy ideas to get started: Use whole or 2% milk ✰ use fat-free milk Drink soda ✰drink 100% juice, or water Eat dessert ✰ eat fruit for dessert Have second helpings ✰ put food away after serving Eat big portions ✰ eat off a smaller plate White bread/pasta ✰ go for a variety of whole-graind Use butter ✰ try spices, or olive or flax oil Eat fast foods ✰ pack healthy sandwiches and fruits & vegetables Eat red meat ✰ try meatless protein meals or fish Snack on junk food ✰ keep fruits and veggies on hand Skip breakfast ✰ plan and prepare the night before Fry your food ✰bake, broil, grill, or roast your food To Your Health!
